I personally don't like them. It detracts from what's aesthetically pleasing to me about dicks and they clank on my fillings.

With that being said it's your dick and your decision. Besides, they're not difficult to take off-just like earings. If you want it then get it. Piercings healing over depend somewhat on the person. I wouldn't assume that it won't heal over over if you remove the jewelry for an extended time even if you let it heal fully first. I've had to remove nipple jewelry for a surgery and they shrank very uncomfortably over a half day of no jewelry, and that was after being healed for years. Similarly, a hood piercing and labia piercings healed over super quickly after being healed for quite some time when I removed the jewelry.

Piercings are an incredibly personal thing, but some individuals just flat out don't find them attractive, much less pleasant for sex. I hope you're able to persuade your partner to be okay with it, but it may not happen. For myself, I would ideally not ever chance fucking my teeth up by giving oral to someone with genital piercings, and for sex I didn't find any of the men I was intimate with who had them to be extra special at all. Then again, I have my nipples pierced and have had them done since I was 18... The main reason behind getting them was for the visual, anything else was just a perk.

I would be tolerant if my sweetie said he wanted to get a genital piercing, but I would prefer he didn't. Where I get it that everyone is very different, Me and about 5 other chaps who Iv made friends with over the years are all inside the 1 week window before being "Healed". Yes, the body continue to heal beyond the noticeable point, but for me and many others, after the week point, It's as if you've had it for years.
