I don't know whether to laugh or cry for this poor guy. This really sucks to be him.

    Speed Violation Nets $279,000 Cash

SEATTLE -- A trooper seized $279,000 in cash last weekend after pulling over a driver who said he had won the money at casinos, the State Patrol said.

The trooper stopped a 2003 Honda Accord on Interstate 5 near Northgate Mall for a speeding violation. The driver, a 35-year-old man from Delta, British Columbia, had conflicting stories about where he was going and how long he had been in the state, troopers said.

The man let the trooper search his car, and the trooper found a suitcase with $279,640 in U.S. bills, the State Patrol said.

The man said he had won the money at 23 casinos in Washington, Nevada and California, but did not keep receipts.

The currency was confiscated for further investigation.

How dumb did he think that trooper was?

"Umm, yeah, I won all that cash at a bunch of casinos, and, ummm, I've been in B.C-- err, Washington for the past four, five, wait, maybe 6 days. Yeah. Where am I headed? Nort-- south, that is, going to see the ocean, you know. What's that? Oh yeah, I know the Pacific is to the west, I was just, uh, testing your geographical knowledge... The receipts? Have you looked under the corpse in my trunk? Errrr, wait, scratch that."

That was our thought on it, but you think he would have had a story ready or at the very least hidden the money in the car.

The cop was just going to stop him for speeding and because he was such a dufus, the cop searched the car.

Um, I think HE was supposed to pay YOU!:wink:

Oh, trust me. They are never smart enough to have a plausable story ready. I can guarantee you there is more to this then is being released to the media. They are possibly looking into how much money he declared he had when he crossed the border.

Oh, and the guy would have had to give permission to have his car searched. I can't tell you how many idiots have been brought in because they let the officer search their vehicle thinking they had the perfect hiding place for their stash.

Why did he give the cops permission to search his car? What a dumbass. They can't just arbitrarily search your car for speeding. and how hard is it to say you're visiting friends somewhere?

I heard about that speeding ticket in the UK. I'm kinda surprised that's the fastest they've ever clocked anyone. I wonder what the record in Germany is. If they got me on radar then it should be higher than that.
