I am a former English teacher. My take on all of this thread:
Grammar is correctly spelled with an "ar" not an "er."
Most current dictionaries state that "whom" is archaic. Who can now correctly be used in both the nominative and objective cases.
If a person chooses to use whom, it should follow a preposition or an action verb.
And, the most important thing, I would like to be in a sex sandwich with Popov and Thorpe. (They are the bread, and I am the filling.....)
