EXACTLY, the Republican party has been hijacked by Teabagger jihadists and the Anti-intellectuals of today.

The once party of the "THINKING MAN" has become the party of the brain dead.

HH

After they absorbed the segregationist voting block with the southern strategy they ceased to be the party of Lincoln.

you can't argue for states rights trumping federal law and claim Lincoln

sure you can!
it goes great with being prolife and pro-capital punishment.
or anti big government spending, that blindly supports 54% of all tax revenue go to war funding.
or being anti welfare for people, while supporting corporate welfare.
or believing every word in the bible AND being a greedy SOB at the same time.
or complaining obamacare is socialist while supporting the guy who originality came up with the idea and implemented it successfully under his leadership.
or bitching the middle class doesn't pay enough taxes while hiding untold fortunes off shore to avoid paying your share.
or calling for more job creation, when you made your millions shipping US jobs overseas.

theres nearly an endless list of GOP hypocrisy to explore, if you can keep your head from exploding just thinking about it ...

Many voters have a "brand loyalty" to their preferred political party. But the parties have evolved, and today's Dem or Rep is not the same as the counterpart from 50 years ago. It's unfortunate that our system has the vast majority of elected politicians falling into one of two parties, but there are others out there. Perhaps it's time for everyone to start looking carefully into the official party platforms (and not just Dems and Reps) and find the one that is our own best-fit. In our nation's history, other political parties have fallen by the wayside (who's voting Whig this year?) Maybe it's time for people to investigate the Libertarian party more.

The fact that we passed the first Civil Rights Act? The fact that working for a living is not a horrid crime? That to start a small business is a great thing and not the worst thing someone could ever do in their whole life? The fact the we don't think it's okay to just print more money? The fact that we like to empower people instead of making them "subjects" dependent upon the government for their whole life? The fact that I don't think we need more government, but less? The fact that corporations/small business make the world go round and are not the bane of all evil? That money is really a good thing in my life that I've earned for myself and I don't want to give it all away to random people just because a nasty mouthed Democrat said I should?

The fact that we are not vicious haters like the Democrats are is probably the biggest thing. Every Democrat who opens their mouth at anytime ALWAYS says something hateful about another American while smiling. It makes me sick to see it over and over and over.

Are you living in some twisted parallel universe? The way you look at the world is backwards. Do you Cons really see nothing wrong with CEOs telling workers that they had to cut back and so no annual raises are being given meanwhile the CEO gets his 7 or 8 figure bonus? Do you guys see nothing wrong with hard working people losing their jobs due to incompetence by the execs and those execs walking away with multi million dollar golden parachutes?

Jesus said that the meek shall inherit the Earth and I pray for that day to come when selfish people like the current GOTP will be made low and will have to hope that others will show them the compassion that they failed to show.

And I suppose you're not going to acknowledge that you have just said something hateful about 1/2 of the people in America? But I suppose you probably believe Democrats aren't Americans....

Oh. I know I did. Ya'll are rubbing off. :(

I know Democrats exist. I see them here, there and everywhere. None have a kind word to say. They even negative talk back and forth all day with each other here about people who simply have a different opinion. It's all just mean and spiteful words about what their neighbor has and they don't. Never a fair discussion. Just finger pointing and hatred.

That's a terrible thing for me to say. It's true though.

Evie, I don't feel either party fully reflects my own personal ideals and I usually vote a split ticket, but it's getting harder for me to find a Republican that I'm willing to vote for. I find plenty of Republicans these days to be "vicious haters", and frankly you're painting Democrats with a broad brush here that many would find offensive. I've had a small business for over 25 years, but still view many large corporations as completely amoral - anything for profit. I also would like to keep as much of my money as I can, but I resent corporate welfare even more than social welfare. I don't really understand how the Republican love for huge defense budgets fits in to the fiscal conservatism platform either. As a member of the middle class, I get it from both sides - why should Mitt Romney pay a lower income tax rate than a person (like me) who makes millions less per year? I can find fault with both parties and can't quite understand all your anger for just one side.

The fact that we passed the first Civil Rights Act? The fact that working for a living is not a horrid crime? Now, was that before or after the Republicans passed the Civil Rights Act?

The Ideologies have switched clearly. The democratic party was EASILY mostly controlled by a good deal of cross burning, sheet wearing, down south bigot racist! That was 60+ years ago. Even Martin Luther King was a republican, but he had the ideologies of the liberals of today. If the republicans now, tried to work with the republicans of 50 - 60 years ago, there would be a cataclysmic paradox!! Call a spade a spade. If the republicans like today acted like republicans of before, they'd be democrats!! This is something that most people don't seem to be aware of for some reason. I understand, we may all forget history, or never paid attention in school, or maybe you had sucky teachers. But guess what folks?!!! We have GOOGLE NOW! There's nothing you can't find out now! You don't even have an excuse to be this clueless anymore, so lets all chalk it up to WILLFUL IGNORANCE. Because most people really don't want to admit how they actually condone the irresponsible and atrocious things the republican party is doing today. And if any of you actually think that the kind of republicans that we have now wouldn't even think twice about impeding peoples civil rights in the 1960s.... I'll be the first to tell you GET FUCKING REAL! They're the kind of people that sit in alabama and stand in the way of black people getting married, in a church that they attend no less. And they're ALSO good for telling people who are of the same sex that they shouldn't allowed to be married, today in 2012!!.They're the kind of people who make it so easy to get guns, so that now we can't even go to a fucking movie theatre without getting shot at. It's only a matter of time before everyone gets tired of dealing with their stupid bull shit.

The fact that we passed the first Civil Rights Act?

If your referring to the 14th amendment then a cursory look at my last post would shed light on how this would not apply to the current Republican party.
Reference this if you have never herd of the southern strategy
Southern strategy - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The fact that working for a living is not a horrid crime?

Don't know anyone is making this argument so I'm going to go out on a limb and call it a straw-man however i will recant the statement if you can find a political figure who is advocating that people live on the dole.

That to start a small business is a great thing and not the worst thing someone could ever do in their whole life?

Repeat my previous statement.

The fact the we don't think it's okay to just print more money?

Except when you decide to go on unjustified wars or cut taxes and go on unjustified wars, or to fund an infinitely growing war treasury, or to pass massive tack on legislation to drain the coffers of public programs, or to give away to the most profitable companies in the world, or to give to farmers to keep there vote.........this goes on for quite some time needless to say the party of fiscal conservatism is not the republican party.

The fact that we like to empower people instead of making them "subjects" dependent upon the government for their whole life?

The straw man cometh.

The fact that I don't think we need more government, but less?

I would argue that the government needs to be more efficient and set a minimum standard of living so that even when people crash it doesn't lead to homelessness or starvation.

The fact that corporations/small business make the world go round and are not the bane of all evil?

Actually that would be the left over rotational energy from planetary accretion. However if you were referring to the economy your still wrong. Economies no matter what guiding philosophy they follow are feedback loops. Consumers create demand. Demand creates growth pressure on business. business makes product to fill the demand Without demand there can be no business. Ignoring either one of thees will break the feedback loop and crash the economy.
As to the evil part, corporations are a profit mechanism and by the nature of design divorce ethics and morality from the decision making process.

That money is really a good thing in my life that I've earned for myself and I don't want to give it all away to random people just because a nasty mouthed Democrat said I should?

Move to Somalia if you want to live without the social contract.

The fact that we are not vicious haters like the Democrats are is probably the biggest thing. Every Democrat who opens their mouth at anytime ALWAYS says something hateful about another American while smiling. It makes me sick to see it over and over and over.
