Cuz this is LPSG. Assume anything Mr. LPSG gives us assholes will be used further our asshole agendas

Remember the fuss when liking arrived? Popularity contests, cliches, not liking posts to bully someone.

The very first dislike? KABOOM!!

eta: I frequent other boards with a whole roster of ratings. Some good, some bad. Some have taken on thier own meaning, so a negative rating is now the highest form of praise.

Is there any reason why we can't have a dislike button?
I tried that. Never in my life have I received more negative msgs quicker than the day I added the dislike button lol

People disliked the dislike button

Remember the old saying "If you've nothing good to say about somebody, do not say anything"

I grew up hearing a similar, but quite different too, old saying:

If you've nothing nice to say about somebody, come sit next to me. ;)

I'm not saying we should emulate FB, but it seems one sided. Merely a thought.
I'm just seeing this thread now, as I've been up to my hips in Video Chat fires all week....

Im a bit of a feature-dreamer, which means that I love thinking about ways to add to the site and make it work in more sophisticated ways. I too asked about a dislike button, but after discussing it with a few people, I was reminded that LPSG is a message board, and that the platform has its own character, so we shouldn't be trying to evolve toward FB-like features.

I did kind of think that the data from a dislike button would be really valuable though. I kind of wondered if there was a way to use it to channel away things like shit-posts, or troll-y comments, but they're all part of the ecosystem really.

Wondering though: @MASSIVEPKGO_CHUCK - were there any ideas about a dislike button that you would see it be useful for? Im super curious.

Now, can we talk about collapsable / in-line replies? *ducks for cover* <jk>
