...back from the dead or take the career of a present musical artist back to a certain point in time. Who would it be, when and/or why?

Personally i'd bring back Duke Ellington. Just to see what else he could cook up.

Warren Zevon. Amazing singer and songwriter who died of cancer. I feel his best work would have been ahead of him. He is sadly missed.

I'd reunite T2. (Not the awful '90s incarnation--the awesome 1970-71 incarnation). Or, alternately, bring Genesis back to its Peter Gabriel-era glory.

Well said. The original line up. Peter's daughter was sick at the time. He wanted to stay home and didn't want to tour or record for a while. They kicked him out of the band. He wanted out anyway. Genesis were a joke once he left. Peter went on to make some amazing creative music.

Michael Hutchence - INXS is just dreadful without him.

the original pink floyd or I would take Danny Carey back to the early 2000's when lateralus was released...even though his style on 10000 days was quite similar

The original Pink Floyd with Syd Barrett. Poor Syd went insane. Most of the songs on Dark Side Of The Moon and Wish You Were Here are about Syd.

Bach, Haydn, Beethoven or the like. I tire with the more modern compositions, but never the classical symphonies.

Surprised nobody has said Elvis yet. :footinmouth:

Ritchie Valens or John Lennon. Valens was too young, too talented to perish in a freak accident. Lennon was deserving of a more dignified end to his life rather than have some delusional IDIOT kill him in cold blood.

I'd like to have Freddie Mercury bad. I think he was absolutely brilliant and so talented. He could sing everything- from Opera, to Ballads, to Rock.

Freddie was one of a kind. Their will never be another. In a conversation about music with another member (great guy) about a certain performer today he pointed out this song Freddie wrote many years ago. This song was about the state of music way back then. Simply garbage. It still is today. At any rate Freddie had a vision. This performer today rips off everyone from Bowie, Queen, Madonna and everyone else. Here is the song. Its as if Freddie knew her name.

Bob Dylan. He's not dead, but his vocal chords need reviving.

Patsy Cline or Janis Joplin. Pure raw voices. Gone too soon.

Kirsty MacColl - a talented and creative songwriter with an AMAZING voice.

    Because he's still alive!

When I see/hear the charts nowadays, I SMH at the absolute CRAP that floats to the top.

Apart from the gorgeous Adele, it just makes me want to cry. There are so many brilliant artists - both living and dead - that I want to share with others. It saddens me that so many great singers and songwriters go unnoticed while the drivel listed above gets all the attention and mainstream airplay.
