The eye rules in attraction and choosing sex partners. We are so conditioned to respond to visual cues of beauty to spark sexual interest that it seems to dominate all the other senses combined, not to mention the qualities of a person. But what if you lost your sense of sight?

What would be your criteria to select partners if you were blind? What would you find physically attractive or sexy?

I'm not sure it would have changed anything much, really. For me, appearance is one means of catching my attention; but it's always been WAY down low on my list of what I find attractive. I've always been much more stimulated by a personality. A "beautiful" person can turn me off, completely, with a couple of sentences. And a "plain" person can certainly get me excited, also with a couple of sentences.

I'd want to talk to them. You can tell a lot about a person by listening to how they talk, and what they talk about.

I also enjoy a person who smells intriguing...

I was thinking more of what attracts me to people using my other senses besides sight.

I have an attraction to the way people smell also, so that would be at the top of my criteria list. The other would be just how they feel physically. How they touch me. How beautiful is their touch. Their voice quality and resonance. Their laugh and accent.

It would be intersting to find out if there are any blind folks here at LPSG or if anyone knows of a blind couple and how they experience sexual attraction.

I've dated men of just about every type and the only thing they had in common was an interesting personality. It is much more important to me that a guy I sleep with is someone I can communicate with than how he looks.

Duh! How could that have slipped my mind! Spoke to a musician last week who smelled divine so I told him so & asked what the fragrance was: Jo Malone's Blue Agave & Cacao plus Pomegranite Noir - yum!

How much talking do you have while having sex? Personally, I hate talking during sex, moans and groans on the otherhand...

physical looks have never mattered that much to me. i know it is cliche but - even in one night stands -i'm attracted to girls who have a similar sense of humor to me. i assume if i was blind this would be even more true.

    Same here.

I have always been attracted to men with strong muscular thighs and broad shoulders.

Personality and touch. These things are important to me now, too, but yeah, I like the good looking guys too (although I've dated guys who were not so good looking, and one of my best lovers was one of these...)

Speaking of that "one of my best lovers", he happened to be legally blind. I never did ask him what criteria he used to choose lovers, though. Didn't think of it at the time. (we were too, er, busy...)

Scent is definitely up there. Of course personality, but that is ALWAYS a factor -- I have to care about and respect the person I am with. The way he touches and kisses, they way his body feels when I touch him (I'm big on texture -- hairy men are too "rough" for me). And, of course... HOW BIG HIS COCK IS!!! ;-)

But I guess the "minor" things that might affect my opinions or attraction to someone -- like their race or how they dress -- would not be important.

    Of course, size! :biggrin1:

Yeah, how they dress would be unimportant if you're blind! As for race, that's not really that important to me since I find guys of all ethnicities attractive, with a slight preference for "multiracial" men. It's WAY important to my family though! I unfortunately have relatives who supported David Duke's candidacy for president. Yes, I come from a very racist family...both sides of it, too. It's one of the reasons I can't deal with my relatives.

I cannot say that loosing my sight would not be a traumatic change, but as far as sexual partners is concerned, not much would change.

During sexual encounters I often enjoy focusing on one sensory input or another depending on my mood. Sometimes I wanna' fuck a guy in front of a large mirror and focus on how everything looks. Sometimes I turn off all the lights and block every photon that might enter the room so that I can just feel and smell the guy I'm with.

I find that when I focus on just one form of input everything becomes hightened. Sensations are stronger and the finish is nothing short of galactic.
