Like it or not, there's a negative stigma associated with an uncut penis, at least in the States, or around my neck of the woods. That being said, I'd snip it!

It's called robbery, when you take something which doesn't belong to you.
Half the skin of a penis is pretty serious.

Cut it...my dad was done when he was 40 years old for medical reasons...i was done when 19 cause my cock was to thick...now we are advocates for circumcision...i know people will say...at least it was your choice...well let me tell you...my choice would have been to be done at birth...and my dad says the same thing...i just had a buddy who's 38 get done also...and he says he should have been done at birth...grass is always greener guys...but on this note...i would tell any parent to be...of my experience, my dads and now my buds...and it would be to cut it...leave some room for play...but cut it....that's my 2 cents..

I had both my boys cut. I'm cut. My wife and I discussed it at length, and came to the conclusion that we wanted them to be cut. For both aesthetic and hygienic reasons. Sometimes I wonder if I made the right decision. But knowing my children's personalities now, I think we did the right thing.

Not sure what you mean Scotty, but they are too young to be able to answer. I may ask them how they feel about it when they are grown men.

I am a bit neutral on a son getting snipped at birth. It would depend on the wife, and more importantly on the environment. Here, in Québec, vast majority is now uncut, so leaving son uncut would not make him "different". But if I were to move to the USA, circumcision would be preferable.

It would also depend on his foreskin length. If he inherited my original extra long foreskin, I would be very tempted he have a partial circ at birth.

If left uncut at birth, I would definitely have a chat with him before puberty to make the circumcision sales pitch though.

.. let your son decide for himself since everyone has their own perspectives.

So unless it's for Religious reasons the act of circumcision on a medical and social level is redundant...

If you ask me, parents shouldn't ram their religious choices down their children's throats either - especially when that involves doing harm at some level, which is what circumcision essentially does. I fail to see the difference between insisting your children follow a faith they haven't chosen and indoctrination.

I have heard too that circumcision is done to a baby it is extremely painful for the child. But I am not sure if this has been backed up by research or not so it’s best you research it yourself..

I don't see how it could fail to be painful. I think it would be generally accepted that the foreskin is supplied with nerve endings to the same, or greater degree than any other part of the skin. Would anyone sanction cutting off an inch of skin off a baby's leg or something, for non-medical reasons? I think not.

Remember that there are also a small number of circumcisions that go wrong - sometimes badly. I don't know the percentages, but surely one baby with a mutilated penis is too many.

Ironically, here in the UK it's illegal to dock a puppy's tail or ears, but not to cut off part of a baby's d*ck.

...I would go with circumsicion at birth. I am cut, like cut and the look of it. I don't remember it being done so would assume my son wouldn't either.

A curious argument, surely? I doubt a baby would remember anything you do to it in it's first year or so in later life - nevertherless most people wouldn't countenance harming one in any way.

Also safer medically.

I'm not an expert on this, but I seem to remember that the medical case for it is pretty marginal. In any case even if that's wrong, I doubt it would make much difference to wait until the child is old enough to make an informed decision for himself.

Both my older brother and I are cut, one of my close friends, my father and two younger brothers are uncut. I like the fact that I am cut but do like the appearance of uncut people as well.

I understand that people don't think that there is medical or social reasons now its just for looks.. I will say this... out of all the penises i have seen of people around my age A LOT of them are cut, leave it up to an AGREEMENT between parents and if the kid is left uncut then give them the choice when they are older to have it cut or leave it.

As a 40 year old man, with two older brothers (42 & 43), none of whom were circumcised at birth (father isn't and didn't feel it was necessary), I felt very strange taking my first gang shower in 7th grade as the only guy who was uncut. However, it certainly wasn't traumatic and the other guys were actually more fascinated than I was. I have sons aged 16, 14, 6, 2, and 3 mos.--we chose not to circumcise them at birth either. Because of excessive foreskin, I had a partial circ. three years ago. About a year ago, my oldest son asked me why I made the decision to have the circ.--I explained my reasons and told him that he could make the choice when he was an adult. I'm comfortable and pleased with my decision, but as someone who has been both uncut and cut as an adult, I can understand both sides of the argument.
