Posting this here because tech support is a nightmare and I know I can't be the only one having this problem!

I'm getting really frustrated with my iphone because it's constantly telling me my password isn't correct. So I logged into Apple and fixed that but now when I go to apps>update all it asks me for my password and the id that's stored is my name only , not my name @ email adress. So it's telling me my id is incorrect. I looked in settings and the id stored is myname@email address as it should be.

I know there was a point where you could log in with just a username but now it requires your full email and there is no place to correct the user id!!

I have a 4s...any insight would be greatly appreciated.

There should be a master erase function in somewhere inside settings. It will erase everything about you in the phone and make it like you first got it. Maybe that will work.

If not, sell it to some unsuspecting person for $500+, get a Droid and come over to the dark side where we have cookies!!

Remember:
iPhones won't
Droids will

Besides, Droids have a *SUPERIOR* speech recognition that beats the hell out of Apple!!

Try this:
1) Go to Settings
2) Scroll down, select "Store"
3) Scroll to bottom, select "Apple ID"
4) Sign out
5) Select Apple ID again once signed out, and sign back in using your email address/password.

If this doesn't work, you can try just selecting "View Apple ID" under the same area and possibly changing it there.

Don't worry. Sounds like on Wednesday, Apple's going to announce the release of iPhone5. Just gonna need a new phone, cuz it will be completely incompatible with anything previously released.

Well since I paid quite a bit of money for this phone and it's under contract I can't switch. And we are back to the old ID. I can download new apps with the new id but can't update older apps.

Wouldnt you really think Apple would have worked out the kinks by now??

I've had this 3Gs for 3 years now haven't had any password issues. No issues really. Except that I hate iTunes.

I'm thinking of giving Nokia/Win 8 a look later this year.

When the 4S came out I went ahead and got it to try it. It's ok and I like it, but it's definitely not God's (or Jobs') gift to cell phones. I'm not a fan of the limited ability to make adjustments nor do I like being a slave to iTunes. My contract is up in a year so I'll see what's on the market.
