Male circumcision provides only partial protection, and therefore should be only one element of a comprehensive HIV prevention package which includes:
  • the provision of HIV testing and counseling services;
  • treatment for sexually transmitted infections;
  • the promotion of safer sex practices;
  • the provision of male and female condoms and promotion of their correct and consistent use.
A traveller came to a farmhouse and offered to make the occupants Nail Soup in return for a night's shelter. He threw a large iron nail in a pot of boiling water and said: “A nail provices only partial soupification, and therefore should be only one element of a comprehensive soup-making package which includes:

  • herbs and spices;
  • salt and pepper;
  • vegetables;
  • meat.”
The farmer's wife accepted this, and in the morning the traveller went on his way, refreshed after a night in a comfortable bed, minus the Nail, with some gold coins in his pocket and the thanks of the family ringing in his ears for the wonderful Magic Nail that made such delicious Nail Soup.

I love how the anti-circ fanatics think that they are smarter than doctors, PhDs, and researchers who have more experience than they do. Its actually quite funny!
Many of us have something that is worth all of that, and which they do not have: a foreskin.

Your argument is called the Fallacy of Appeal to Authority, by the way. No matter how eminent the person saying something may be, if it is wrong, it is still wrong.

This, from your doctor, is a lie:
"my doctor suggested it was the best and only option"
You have a simple yeast infection. That is why your foreskin is tearing.
Both you and your partner need to be treated. Canesten typically works just fine.
As for the frenulum tearing, it heals stronger. Scar tissue is stronger than skin.
You may like the look. Many do. Would you like the feel? Many of the guys here are cheerleading, because they had it done, either because of body dymorphic disorder, or just because they liked it better. Do you really honestly think that smell is a problem?
Is it a problem on a woman, because their scent is a lot stronger than a man's.

If you have it done, best of luck to you. Just don't do it because you believe there is no alternative. Cure the yeast, and simple stretching with the fingers will allow you to keep all your parts, and have a shorter recovery time than a circumcision.
The joy of it is, that, as adults, we can choose to do as we please.

I'm not sure who exactly your post is directed at. It appears you were directing it towards the OP, which is fine, but nowhere in any of his posts did he mention anything about a smell. That was mentioned by another poster.

I'm interested in knowing how you know for a fact that he has a yeast infection.

I have an ex who was uncut and he said he could not imagine sex without all of him. He never had any problems with it and said that you just have to be a little more aware of being clean. If I could go back and make the choice I'd have it NOT done, then I'd at least know what I was missing and could later make an informed decision as an adult. Our bodies though basically the same are still all different to some degree so if its something bothersome or uncomfortable, you should not feel concerned about correcting the situation to adjust your comfort level in your body. It's yours, so as long as what you're doing isn't really "hurting" you (so to speak) be confident about your decision and don't look back.

On a side note as weird as it sounds emu oil is supposed to be amazing to help heal surgical wounds. Check it out. I buy mine from desert palms emu. I know from experience it works wonders on fresh piercing and tattoos.

This website looks a lot like that one: HIV IS NOT THE CAUSE OF AIDS
Not at all that I can see, and I don't get the connection to the topic either.
Saying that clearly displays a personal bias on your part though.

I'll put my money on the World Health Organization/UN AIDS info. Im funny that way
That's your prerogative. I prefer to educate myself as thoroughly as possible, look at the science and the validity of studies behind the numbers, and not blindly and passively accept the opinion of traditional medical "authorities" with their constantly shifting positions and changing recommendations. I expect that in time this recommendation too will be abandoned, even within in the very specific cultural conditions it has been made.

Regardless of whether the studies behind this recommendation are flawed or not, and I believe they are, the way the numbers are presented makes it sound on the surface as though circumcision significantly reduces the transmission of AIDS in general. This is simply not true, even within the scope of the WHO recommendation, even within the scope of the numbers as presented, even presuming they're correct. In fact, circumcision may have no bearing, or it may very well increase transmission rates overall, even within the communities where it has been recommended. The recommendation is made for very specific communities in sub-Saharan Africa.
WHO is not saying that circumcision would reduce HIV transmission rates in other communities and cultures, and the recommendaton does not translate to Western society at all, for reasons that are explained.

There are others on this board who are more devoted to, and better versed in, this subject than I. They have posted details deconstructing the deceptive conclusions of these and similar studies in other threads. Perhaps they are interested in offering more information again; perhaps if readers are interested they can search some of those prior threads. I frankly have no interest in and nothing to gain by wasting my time and energy trying to convince someone who is too clearly biased in favor of circumcision to look at the issue objectively.

Calling people who advocate for normal healthy natural body integrity "ant-circ fanatics" completely undermines whatever credibility you might have, if you had any to begin with, which you don't.

And there are plenty of "doctors, PhDs, and researchers" in the world who have come to the conclusion that routine circumcision is completely unnecessary and medically unjustified -- many more than advocate for it.

I have no bias in favor of circumcision. You stated before that circumcision is purely cosmetic. I pointed out that WHO says that in certain places in the world, this is not the case. You then found a homemade website made by an unidentified person who advocates against circumcision. This you cite as evidence that WHO is wrong. If anyone who has posted to this thread has a fixed idea about circumcision, it is you. I wouldnt give a shit if every guy on the face of the earth cut his entire dick off. Except my boyfriend, of course.

Now, I've made clear my views on RIC as being abuse... but this is an adult.

It seems that he has explored many options - and it didn't work. If he hadn't done any stretching or creams and moved straight for the slice... then I would be counselling otherwise. But however much I dislike the practice (I was faced with the prospect about 6 years ago... but I just stretched the hell out of it and it works great now) there are legitimate medical cases when it's necessary, this seems like one of them.
