I'm sleeping with an athlete. She has ruined me for other girls :)

Every single culture ever documented, with the exception of some predictable variation in preference based on ecological variation, exhibits a preference for slender, in-shape women..

There have been a number of studies that confirm a general preference by men, across most (definitely not all) cultures, for women of a certain waist to hip ratio of roughly 0.7.

That's independent of weight or physical fitness (though those things can play a role).

That's also talking in general terms. My own personal preference is for women who are weak and a little soft. It's more princess to me (and it's an ego booster when they have to come to you every time a jar needs opening) :p

If you're into the athletic type, that's totally cool. It's just not so much my thing.

I guess Miscer did not learn from his previous ban.

Miscer, you are obviously trolling again and I hope this time you and your childish bullshit are banned permanently.

In ancient Greek times, big and voluptious women were considered the ideal. Palaeolithic men also valued larger women. Female fat was a sign of well-being and the ability to survive hard times. In some African cultures being plump is considered healthy, and is a sign of fertility and prosperity. So I don't think every single culture ever documented values slender figures.

That said, I think some female athletes are super sexy. Mmmm, soccer girls.

But I also like the flip side, curvy/big-boned. As long as not needing a crane to get out of bed or anything.

Really I just love a woman who is confident in her skin.

You offer the oldest anthropological myth there is.

Myth? Pray tell, what myth would that be?

Don't confuse voluptuous hip-to-waist ratio with fatness.

Whew! Good...cuz I haven't

Your examples are remarkably lame for the point you're trying to make, when you sit down and have a proper think about it.

Kind of like using Renaissance and Romantic era paintings to prove medieval European males' preferences...? Remember what I said about that history lesson you needed?

To even dignify them with a response is beneath me. Read up on some real research, not cherry picked data.

He says, right before posting a response...that includes misidentified cherry picked data.

Here's an easy to read intro
What form of women

The author of that "intro" needs a dictionary. Or a history book. Whatever.

That's called a strawman. Do you know what a strawman is?

Strawman - exemplified by the poorly written and historically inaccurate link you posted.

I'm not deciding the rules--I'm just telling it like it is. You should take the value from it. FACT: the vast majority of men are repulsed by obesity, and pretty grossed out by fatness. They just know it's impolitic to say so.

If you want to be attractive to the opposite sex, don't be obese. It's not a lot to ask for.

You started this thread by stating a preference for athletic women. Good for you. Then you go on to say that a woman who isn't athletic is both disgusting and by default obese. However, there are lots of women that are not athletic that are also not obese. Coke-thin supermodels come to mind. As do the vast majority of women on the planet who aren't athlete-trim, a large portion of whom seem to magically still be able to attract men willing to not just sleep with them, but marry them too. And what the hell, some of them manage to be sex symbols too...Marylin Monroe comes to mind.

But I guess continually coming up with real examples that disprove your point counts as strawman

(and this is all coming from a man that prefers athletic women himself)

Anyone else get the feeling that this "athlete" is nothing but a figment of the op's fertile imagination?

I could really care less about what figure he desires.

My issue with this thread stems from the idea that someone has to fit his personal standards to "be loved." It's rubbish.

Of course it is. Just look at who started the thread.

Many women are deeply loved who don't fit his ideal, so reality contradicts his OP.

The unintentional subtext of his thread is, "Ladies, if you want to avoid attracting a shallow man like me, you shouldn't get fit."

He is telling women that they won't be loved unless he finds them sexy, which is obviously untrue. Many women are deeply loved who don't fit his ideal, so that apparently isn't necessary.

Maybe what he should have said was, "Ladies, if you want to avoid attracting a shallow man like me, you shouldn't get fit."

No, it should have read, "Ladies, when a shallow man speaks don't listen."

Perhaps you'd care to share a picture of this gorgeous with us? Just her body pic of course.
From your description, she must be quite a woman.
