More common, less common might be better.
Having an attraction, just out of plain simple curiosity or even because of something sexual, doesn't define us completely. we are more than the sum of our preferences.
As has been said, being gay is not the same as doing something homoerotic. Where we put a penis, or anything else sexual for that matter, is more about stimulation than sexuality. To me sexuality is more about attitude; it's an individual thing.
To the OP, I think everyone has appealing thoughts that may be outside of what they'd define as consistent with their sexuality, it's just some don't care to admit it.
