The American Association for Justice has an interesting study on their website about ALEC, and shows just how much they have been working behind the scenes to write the laws that are now helping to shape our country. On the surface, the organization looks like it's comprised of thousands of state legislators that pay a fee to attend their retreats and receive model legislation. In reality, corporations pay ALEC lots of money to access legislators to distribute radical legislation that puts corporate interests over American workers and consumers. One link in particular on this page goes to a PDF entitled "Ghostwriting The Law For Corporate America", where it's discovered that more than 80% of their financing all comes from major corporate contributions.
American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC)
It also lists many other companies/organizations that have been caught up in major scandals or controversies over the last several years that have ALEC members. Not including some that were listed earlier - Bank of America, BP America and the National Rifle Association.
This is starting to look REALLY ugly.
