alan: I,ve been impotent for about 2 years. I take viagra and I use a vacuum pump for growth and circulation. I'm 7.75" erect and very fat around . My doctor found no phsyical problems an d said that it might be the size of my dick. Do large men have a greater rate of impotence ?

Javierdude22: Hm...i don't know the fine details, or diagnostic information on this topic, but i'm pretty sure size is not the reason for impotence.

Usually, the main reason doctors & co. give psychological reasons for this issue. I'm guessing your still young (as in somewhere below 50 -sorry guys-) so physique won't be the main cause of things.

Maybe you can tell us more exactly what happens at the moment of truth. Is it lack of excitement, anxiety, insecurity, or is everything in order but it just doenst happen? Maybe you can elaborate

robbnks: Size has nothing to do with whether or not a man can achieve a satisfactory erection or not. The problem may be a combination of stress, and/or anxiety which often cause impotence in many men. This is sometimes solved with a referral from your family doctor to a Psychotherapist or Psychiatrist. Another reason may be the overuse and side effects of recreational drugs or some prescription drugs.

jackinman: Alan I think it's time for you to find a new doctor. RUN, especially if he's your urologist.
He definately should know better. As the others guys have mentioned before me it may be a combination of things. If you're taking any other prescription drugs besides the Viagra, they may be the culprit.

Now of course I'm no doctor, so if there are any doctors on this board, please chime in and help the gentleman out .

I agree with the other posts here that size is not likely to be the problem, or at least the single problem. I have had doctors/nurses ask me if I have erection problems, which I don't, due to my size. It could be that you have some other problem that a large penis intensifies. Perhaps there is a nerve problem of some sort. I am not a physician, but I know that the nervous system triggers an erection, and as I understand Viagra can do little if the initial stimulous is not there.

Good Luck,
Jack

If I didn't know better (and I'll try to give him the benefit of the doubt!), it almost sounded like the doc gave you a rather flippant answer out of jealousy!     ;)

Alan, don't buy into the notion "your size" is the issue.

Ridiculous.

I agree with the others here....something else is contributing to this situation and more than likely it's simple and overlooked.   More importantly--once found, this can be quite easily treated I would surmise, despite what you might be thinking now.

Try not to worry, even though most men would !

(Truth be known, it's more common an occurance than you would think among your fellow "brothers" !)      ;)

Jimbo: Alan:

You don't give too much information as to any lifestyle, age, health or other issues/situations that may or may not have an effect on your potency problem.

Rather than ramble about the various causes, it would  be very useful if you could answer a few questions:

1. are you totally impotent without viagra or are your erections just less firm than they used to be without it?

2. did you start pumping in an attempt to assist in increasing blood flow to improve erections or did the erectile problem appear once you started pumping?  Impotency could be the result of overpumping, since a firm erection depends on the pressure exerted against the tunica surrounding the erectile bodies and if this tunica is overstressed, it can become weakend to the point of not providing this firm sheath needed to maintain the proper tension for a firm erection.  The cure is usually to lay off pumping altogether for a few weeks to allow the tunica to "firm up".

3. your age

4. are you a smoker? use any kind of recreational or other drugs that may have impotency side effects?

5. are you going through any kind of undue stress? (job, relationship, etc.).  Have you felt seriously depressed about something?

6. was loss of potency gradual or more sudden? Over what period of time???

Lastly, your doctor's point that larger dicks seem to have more problems maintaining erections as we age is not too far from the truth.  Over the various incarnations of the LPSG i have communciated with guys that have had problems in that area and for the most part they were owners of LARGE (10" and over) units.  As the erectile tissues and mechanism becomes less "elastic" and arterial plaques set in as we age, all else being equal, the body now has more work to fill up the volume required to erect a larger penis.  These guys by the way notice declines in erectile strength in their late 20's  and 30's.   Although your length in NOT in that category, your girth may make up for the length as far as the overall VOLUME of your penis is concerned. (by the way, what is your UNPUMPED girth? and what size tube do you use in your pumping?)

yes most of large men have small penis. this is because most of the blood in their body goes to their miscles and not 2 penis.

Did this come on very suddenly or over a period of time? If you've just been to your gp he should refer you to a specialist before saying he can't find any reason, it may well be there's a physical reason he's overlooking. Are you having sex with the same person you were with before you became impotent? When you say you're impotent do you ever manage to get a stiffy without resorting to giving it a helping hand in some way?
