Don La Fontaine, a man whose voice you hear at least once a week, has died of a collapsed lung.

Don did over 750,000 TV commercials and 5,000 movie trailers. He was the undisputed king of voiceovers.

Here is parodying himself in a recent Geico commercial and a short about his remarkable career. His voice brought drama to any movie trailer and for someone like me who loves cinema, he's a bit of my history consigned to memory.

5 Guys In a Limo is hilarious. What voiceover guys do when they get together.

What a shame. He will be missed, for sure.

In a world of La Fontaine wannabe's, the original will never be successfully copied.

I read an article in Mix several years ago about The Voice. In the beginning....he was an audio engineer that did voice over work out of necessity. Now he's probably the most famous person nobody ever heard of. A huge loss to the industry. I was saddened to learn the news yesterday morning.
