Not sure how far west you are but the biggest Barnes & Noble in TX is very near the Westheimer and Voss intersection on Westheimer.

There's an excellent Mexican Restaurant named Molina's almost directly across Westheimer from B&N. Family owned since 1941.

Memorial City mall is on I-10 at the Gessner exit on the south side.

The Galleria is at Westheimer and West Loop 610.....multi-level high end stores....fun to just walk thru and people watch.
There's a grill there called Kona Grill....I've eaten there with friends several times.
Love their personal size pizzas.

There's So much more.........don't know your specific interests.
