I agree that economic interdependence is the best hedge against war; that's why I'm in favor of it, and troubled by Trump's isolationist rhetoric.

I don't really see the difference myself. The uk had a world spanning empire and used it's globalised industry to benefit itself. Or, quite honestly, a small number of people got stinking rich while the majority got the minimum wage possible. We have returned to this world of elites and private sector control of the means of production. Government's around the world have been engaged in rolling back the transfer of wealth to ordinary people which took place after the world wars.

At the time it was believed such a war as happened -happened twice-could not possibly happen because of the interconnectedness of all the nation's in the world. But instead what happened was their interconnectedness dragged all of them into the fight. And this is the stage set now.[/QUOTE]
