I don't think Republicans are all that interested in helping those in need. They should be helping themselves, after all it's their own fault they're poor isn't it??

that was the idea behind the "War on Poverty" and other liberal legislation of the Johnson Administration

the actual effect was exploding prison populations and disenfranchisement on a massive scale as the convicted found they lost their right to vote and participate in the democratic process, all because the liberals made it possible to bear fatherless children (via these welfare programs), who growing up fatherless, went on to create lives of crime

a sociologist I read as a child called it the iatragenic principle

so, yes, a great deal of harm may obtain

Wait, you're blaming the ridiculous love affair we have with criminalizing everything in this country on LIBERALS? Have you lost your fucking mind? You do know that 2/3rds of people in jail right now are in for non-violent drug offenses. The War on Drugs is, I'll say it again, the Last Great White Hope. It is some racist conservative bullshit.

Johnson didn't want to make poor people criminals, he wanted to help them get out of institutionalized and cyclical poverty. Ty to the conservatives for stopping all that "Great Society" socialism."

Since you claim to study sociology, what is the principle called when someone lives a big fat fucking lie their entire life, and acts as if everyone else is the one with the problem?

btw, you're 33 yrs old, right?

Yeah, Lyndon Johnson--a liberal who helped allow blacks to vote without fear, eased social stigmata and helped bring about some needed reform.....not all of it worked, but it was a step in the right direction. Were you to poll people back then, the majority of people would have denied blacks their rights.

I don't care what book you read as a kid, you obviously didn't get it right. It isn't about "liberal" or anything. It is about justice. Most of your post is incomprehensible.

A lot of people think the plan is literally unconstitutional, which is a big deal to many.
Ignoring the debate about whether these sociopaths actually 'think' or merely act out ingrained prejudices, I suggest they sit down read the US Constitution for the first time in their lives. That'll clear things up for them.

I agree. Let them learn the hard way.
BTW, Trinsanitroll, it's no longer Obamacare now that it's law. The fact that you're still using that pathetic buzzword after the attempts to deflect HCR have failed (like your birther thread) shows just how much of a bitter, spiteful person you really are. Neither Hillary or Palin are taking things in 2012 no matter how many OBAMA BAD posts you can make on a big dick site, so stop voting by way of snatch and get with the program.

Some day (and I hope soon) you need to learn the difference between a transitive verb and an intransitive verb and how to use them correctly.

You think you come across as lofty and erudite, but you actually write so poorly that you rarely make any sense.

I didn't think she was giving a quote against Healthcare...

I believe Sen. McCaskill said Democrats are overpromising with their recent campaign to sell their healthcare bill as something people are going to love the benefits of immediately. That's not going to happen...and when it doesn't...people could be angry in November and 2012 and vote against Democrats. I believe Sen. McCaskill is saying sell it with a dose of reality. Of course that won't work either.

The Dems are out in November for being stupid.

I wish the states luck......
Historical amnesia is as dangerously disorienting for a nation as for an individual.
-------
Although state governments had certain powers reserved to them, these did not include voiding laws duly enacted by the people’s representatives in Congress and the president.
-------
Each time it reared its head, it was crushed as an assault on democratic government and the nation itself—in Abraham Lincoln’s words, “the essence of anarchy.”

The Essence of Anarchy

You know, I was not solidly for or against this bill, but most of what I have heard were Democrats saying that the benefits would not be felt immediately.

And saying "The Dems are out in November for being stupid" in almost every one of your posts is not going to convince anyone other than you and maybe the one or two insane people who already agree with you that anything you say is remotely true. I hate flaming people, but if people were kicked out for being stupid, I couldn't imagine you would have been posting here very long.

you should be thankful I use Google (which points out my spelling error)

else you'd be suffering in even greater misery

(BTW, I am lofty and erudite -- whether I come across that way is another matter )

^Those who think they are above others (lofty) tend to fall the hardest when the facade they have put up inevitably comes crashing down, exposing their true self to the world.

Btw, you never answered my question... You're 33 years old, right? (or are you 34 now?)

If that were true you wouldn't have Claire McCaskill - a Democrat saying on MSNBC that Democrats are overpromising.

Stupidity is not something you can call me. The Dems on the other hand...

are out in November for being stupid.

Trying to make up for a mass of screwed up syntax by 'stating' you are 'lofty and erudite'...

You're knee jerk Republican. There's that "word" write "libtard" in your answer.
