did i not get the memo? are we in a time warp? i don't believe this is the 1950s... are we going to see drinking fountains for "colored" people too?

it amazes me how backwards many parts of the country still are to this very day. it's the 21st fucking century, people!!! it shouldn't matter if a white person wants to marry a black person. if you don't want an interracial marriage, then don't have one! simple as that!

Snakes do have their admirable traits. I suspect that you are observations as a schoolteacher are quite myopic.

Hi
this might be unpopular but I see the judges point. Mixed race/mulatto children seem to have more behavioural and social problems than the rest. That was my experience when I was a schoolteacher. I admire the courage of this man to speak against the tide of rampant liberalism and political correctness.

Of course we mustn't forget about Obama - lol - thats one clever mulatto!

Yep..not a big surprise people like him "still" exist..racism is alive and well for sure.

I do not think it will be easy to just remove and "ban" him from his functions...

At least he is honest, stand his positions despite unpopular one...others like him are all undercover but think just the same as him.

I said earlier, even snakes have their admirable traits.

Some examples of well-adjusted non-mixed race/mulatto children, who became well known about.

John Wayne Gacy
Charles Whitman
the two well-adjusted kids at Columbine
son of Sam
the Boston strangler
Robert Rameries
David Burke
Gary Ridgway
Ted Bundy
the zodiac killer
Juan Corona
HH Holmes
Dean coril
Donald Harvey
and let us not forget London's own jack the ripper.

Are any of these names familiar to you?

WOW...

He came to the conclusion that most of black society does not readily accept offspring of such relationships, and neither does white society, he said.
Funny my BLACK as HELL family is just happy that I found I guy that I loved enough to marry!

"I try to treat everyone equally," he said.

Then MARRY different race COUPLES YOU DIRT BAG!!!!!!!!!

I am afro-american and native american. In my experience black ppl are very accepting of mixed race children. It is also my experience that there are other races that are not as accepting.
In my obeservations and experiences I come to understand that many other races are very accepting or interracial couples as long as there are no black ppl involved to sully the blood lines.
Blacks are the only race that no matter where we go in the world there are ppl who think they are better than us just because your black and they're not. Sad but true. So for the majority, we are so used to inequallity and dealing with ignorance of others regarding racism and race relations. Many blacks in the U.S. know how if feels first hand to suffer descrimination. For these very reasons I will make the blanket atatement that many of us are very accepting of mixed race children. Remember that none of us are pure blood due to all the raping and such during slavery. Many Native Americans mixed purposefully with blacks to improve status. Remember that when slavery ended Indians were lower on the totem polls that blacks (yes it is possible). Many blacks went' to live in tribal towns where they could feel a bit safer than they felt living amongst whites. Our entire history in this country dictates our acceptance of other ppl and cultures. It is full of racial mixing, whether by force, rape, security reasons or love.
And don't be a woman, especially one of color. That's a whole different conversation. Not bashing a group of ppl, only stating that racism exist in every race and culture.

The biggest hurdle is not to make the child feel as though they have to pick sides.
If a child is black and white mix, the black family shouldn't ignore the fact that the child is half white or get offended when there are things where the child more identifies with one race over the other. This is a 2-way street. Denial of the other half is not acceptance of the whole child.

Secondly,he's a justice of the peace. He does not make law. That couple pay taxes like everyone else. It is his job to carry out the duties of that elected office. I'm not sure but I don't think that practicing discrimination based on his personal views was not part of the job description.
BUT THEN AGAIN ISN"T THAT ILLEGAL ANYWAY! Never mind that he's a Justice of the Peace!

Honestly, there are lots of little racist things going on these days. Everyones finances aren't back on track yet. PPL expect way to much to soon from our Pres. As soon as they feel he's nbot going to deliver we will find out who all the racists really are who've merely been holding their tongues because it wasn't "PC" to speak their mind.
Bloacks are proud of Obama but at the same time knew there would be a price to pay. There are racists police and judges, lawmakers, etc... everywhere.
Some feel like blacks, hispanics, latinos are gaining to much ground and don't like it. Your to close to me now!
Sad but true. There are subtle nuances to each race and the way we view the world and the U.S. One of those is that as soon as Obama got elected there was joy but the conversations the next mornings in our homes were concerning a raise in racial profiling and fitting the description. In little way6s we will al pay for this wonderful accomplishment. If you think it's hog wash, ask a friend of color if you have one. Better still if it's B.S. then why are we just now getting a President of ANY color? Latinos, Native Americans, Hispanics I'm rooting for you. I'm for everyone, against no one but the machine.

Bardwell Resigns!

BATON ROUGE, La. — A Louisiana justice of the peace who refused to marry a couple because the bride was white and groom was black resigned Tuesday, after weeks of refusing to step down despite calls for his ouster from officials including the governor.

Keith Bardwell quit with a one-sentence statement to Louisiana Secretary of State Jay Dardenne and no explanation of his decision: “I do hereby resign the office of Justice of the Peace for the Eighth Ward of Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana, effective November 3, 2009.”

Gov. Bobby Jindal called Bardwell’s resignation “long overdue.”-AP
Good.

”“”“”Landrieu said Bardwell’s refusal to marry the couple reflected terribly on the state. “By resigning ... and ending his embarrassing tenure in office, Justice Bardwell has finally consented to the will of the vast majority of Louisiana citizens and nearly every governmental official in Louisiana ... We are better off without him in public service,” she said.“”“
=============

I wonder who are the few governmental officials that do not agree. Are there any ideas?

Actually your experience showed the judge's reason for barring couples of mixed-race from marrying was based upon a fallacy as social and behavioral problems exist for progeny of the racially segregated too. In spite of this he allowed the latter persons to marry revealing him to be an anti-miscegenation bigot.

Gisella it would have been easy to remove Bardwell. As a judge, and governmental official for the State of Louisiana, he's not permitted to infringe an individual's right to marry a person of another race; per the Supreme Court ruling Loving v. Virginia of 1967.

Loving v. Virginia - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In light of his stupid, unlawful, anti-miscegenation action there was justification for him being removed from his governmental position. Hence he resigned.

That's the least the governor could do.

The things is, he couldn't. As a municipal JOP he wasn't under the jurisdiction of the governor (or the legislature) at all. Bardwell could only be removed by a judicial review board convened by the state Bar and it could have taken over a year to convene the board and remove him. Such processes are slow in Louisiana.
