No, I have all of my local and federal congress people on speed dial and call them regularly. I stay absolutely informed so I can bear witness when needed against Mr Trump. This is a political forum on a big dick fetish website. In the grand scheme, it's meaningless. And yes, sometimes you need to take out your crayons, make a sign and take to the streets. HIV funding didn't come from nowhere. WE, in ACT-UP took our crayons and made signs and changed the country. But you make sure you finish your reflection.
.
And you have George Bush to thank for the funding and giving attention.

And we have Ronald Reagan to thank for the formation of Act-Up. It's the 30 year anniversary of its formation.
.
You will never give credit where credit is due. You lose any credability.

This is a great timeline.

I don't think that word means what you think it means.

The liberals are turning on each other.

I'm liberal. Pretty sure Industrialsize is progressive (he got mad the one time I asked him, so I can't say for sure).

Core goals between the two are generally the same, but the political approach is different.

-On day one Trump scrubbed the entire whithouse.gov site of any mention of the LGBT community
-Trump declined to mention Gay Pride week, breaking with whitehouse tradition.
-Trump is curtailing civil rights investigations and his administration is under a civil rights investigation
Trump Administration Quietly Rolls Back Civil Rights Efforts Across Federal Government
Previously unannounced directives will limit the Department of Justice’s use of a storied civil rights enforcement tool, and loosen the Department of Education’s requirements on investigations.

For decades, the Department of Justice has used court-enforced agreements to protect civil rights, successfully desegregating school systems, reforming police departments, ensuring access for the disabled and defending the religious.

Now, under Attorney General Jeff Sessions, the DOJ appears to be turning away from this storied tool, called consent decrees. Top officials in the DOJ civil rights division have issued verbal instructions through the ranks to seek settlements without consent decrees — which would result in no continuing court oversight.https://www.propublica.org/article/...-back-civil-rights-efforts-federal-government
Six members of White House's HIV/AIDS council quit because President Trump 'simply does not care'
Six members of the Presidential Advisory Council on HIV/AIDS abruptly resigned this week, citing the Trump administration's neglect in fighting the health epidemic.

The departing members of the White House advisory council penned a chiding editorial blasting President Trump's failure to combat the disease during his first 100 days in office.

"We have dedicated our lives to combating this disease and no longer feel we can do so effectively within the confines of an advisory body to a president who simply does not care," wrote Lambda Legal lawyer Scott Schoettes, in a statement published Friday through Newsweek magazine.

He stepped down Tuesday, along with Lucy Bradley-Springer, Gina Brown, Ulysses Burley III, Michelle Ogle and Grissel Granados. The council, created during former President Bill Clinton's first term in 1995, makes recommendations through the Secretary of Health and Human Services. Its lone meeting this year took place in March.

There are times when a sense of security is a good thing, but largely only when that sense of security is justified... a knowledge after considered examination that the party has broad appeal and will do well.

But what you're running around here with is this attitude that Trump is the antichrist, and that on this supposition alone, people will vote or not vote for other political offices not related to the president on the basis of how they feel about Trump.

2018 midterms are almost two years away. That is plenty of time to do some reflection and make some policy shifts if needed to shore up risky areas. But that's not going to happen if everyone's running around sniffing their own.

2 House special elections today, 2 Republican victories.

Karen Handel takes Georgia's 6th, 53% to 47%.
Ralph Norman takes South Carolina's 5th, 51% to 48%.

WHY?

Washington Blade reporter ejected from DOJ Pride event
A Washington Blade reporter was ejected from an event Wednesday at the U.S. Justice Department observing June as Pride month — among the last of the events hosted by LGBT affinity groups for federal workers. Similar celebrations under the Obama administration were open to the media.

Dozens of employees — among them LGBT attorneys within the Justice Department and federal law enforcement officials — attended the event, which was titled “Solidarity through Pride” and held in the Great Hall of the Justice Department building.

Representing the Justice Department was acting Assistant Attorney General for National Security Dana Boente, an Obama administration hold-over who also serves as U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia.
Boente also invoked the shooting at the congressional baseball practice earlier this month in which House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) was severely wounded. Lesbian Capitol Police officer Crystal Griner, who was on the scene and helped take down the attacker but was wounded herself, is a hero, Boente said.

“Officer Griner is rightly a hero of the LGBT community; she is also a hero for the entire country,” Boente said.

Under U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions, Boente said a top priority would be “combatting the rise of violent crime” and the Justice Department was already taking steps to pursue that goal.

At about that point in Boente’s remarks, a Justice Department official approached and said the Blade had to be escorted out because the DOJ Pride event was closed to the press. The Blade complied.

The closed-press rule for the event is unusual. The Blade attended and covered DOJ Pride events as a member of the press numerous times during the Obama administration — under both former U.S. Attorneys General Eric Holder and Loretta Lynch.

They held a Gay Trump rally in Washington D.C. on 7/1/17. 18 confused souls showed up.
Gay-organized Trump rally draws just 18 attendees

A total of just 18 people turned out on Saturday, July 1, for a Make America Great Again Free Speech Rally on the Ellipse section of the National Mall near the White House that was organized by Gays for Trump President Peter Boykin.

Boykin and several others who spoke at the rally said they were certain that each of those attending the event represents thousands of others, both gay and straight, who are conservative, loyal Americans that deeply believe Donald Trump will provide the leadership needed to get the nation back on track.

Trump Administration Tells Iowa Town to Remove Pride Crosswalks and They Refuse
Ames, Iowa decided the federal government has no cause to make the request and no jurisdiction to force such action.

The Trump administration has tried to make a town get rid of its Pride crosswalks, but the town has refused.

The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Highway Administration sent a letter to officials in Ames, Iowa requesting they remove the Pride crosswalks because they claimed they were a safety hazard. The crosswalks include the Pride flag, with the addition of black and brown stripes to show racial inclusivity, the transgender Pride flag, and the gender nonbinary flag colors as well..........
.............
The city council has decided the federal government does not have the right to tell them to remove the colors.

“My only question is, do we need to do anything?” said council member Chris Nelson during a recent meeting, the Ames Tribune reports. “Can we just accept the letter and say thank you?”

City Attorney Mark Lambert said they could, as it did not include a request for a response.

“As I said in my memo, (FHWA) couldn’t explain to me how they had jurisdiction over city streets, they were unaware of any penalties, and said they were still research that,” Lambert said. “Frankly, I think that according to the manual itself, there’s a good argument we’re not violating the manual, since there’s no prohibition on colors.”
