android.... it's open source, usable on all kinds of (better and more functional) hardware devices, has full compatibility with all the media and software i want, is less expensive, has better/easier privacy settings, doesn't require me to install software on my PC to run certain functions, and is fully plug & play compatible!!!!!

ios is just way too big of a headache to use, requires you to update/upgrade too much, is only compatible on one brand of device (that has limited ease of use) and i fucking HATE itunes.... if you already use a mac, i guess ios is fine for cross-platform functionality.... but if you're on a pc then i highly recommend android.... it just works better, and does not look like a toy.... with ios, just be prepared to spend more money, upgrade more, and have to install software on your computer in order to do things like transfer files....

I have an iPhone, and I've never plugged into my computer once. My husband's IT friend showed me how I can send files to the phone with software that was already on my Macbook, and it wasn't iTunes. I don't remember the name of it but I call it the duck because that's the icon.

Android. In terms of software to me they are actually quite similar, just that I vastly prefer a 5 inch screen over a 4 inch one and such an option is unavailable on iOS. The only feature advantage are widgets, and the lack of those on iOS is the only major turn off for me. Although Windows Phone does that even better with live tiles.

But I do get what some people say about customisability on Android, just that I haven't found much of a need for it.

I used an iPhone 3Gs for 3 years, but now it's a backup if anything happens to my windows phone. The battery is kaput and so is the on/off switch (it's always on when it's got a charge). The primary reasons I didn't buy another iPhone are:
The visual design of the interface really bothered me. I hate the way they try to make things look like something other than what they really are. Faux leather on the contact app, yellow legal "paper" and the Sans Comic font in the Notes app are two examples. Terrible design choices in my book. I also don't like the iTunes software. It's cumbersome and non-intuitive. Also you can't just create a folder and put files in it. To me, that is just stupid on a product that is basically a mini-computer.

After years of spending thousands of dollars on Apple products I'm fed up with the closed system and planned the obsolescence of that system.

Windows Phone has issues as well. The browser sucks and all the animated flipping around of icons became quite boring after a short time. The actions of opening apps and changing screens are really, really smooth, but not needed and makes things a bit slow. But at least the OS ain't fugly like the iPhone. The camera is great though.

I've been resisting Android, but this week ordered an HTC One mini. It should be delivered next week. The hardware is beautiful, but we'll see about the OS.

I got android. It's £2.50 a month for 300 mins calls, 3000 txts (!) and 1.5Gb data.

Admittedly that will rise to £10 after the six month introductory period, but I can save £5 a month cancelling my landline call package which I don't need anymore.

My first smartphone was a BlackBerry and from there I went to a iPhone 4S, which is my current phone. It's ok and it works, but I hate being a 'slave' to iTunes. It's convenient in that my family all has iPhones as well, but am strongly considering switching to an Android platform when I can. I've played with enough to know I like the functionality, openness, and overall simplicity.

The more I encounter frustrations about anything Apple, the more I'm inclined to believe their products are 'tech for sheeple'.

Android. Apple products are very nice, but not worth all the money. Though I'd splurge on an Apple device before spending any amount of money on something that runs a Microsoft OS.

Android. I really like my Samsung Galaxy 4S Active, although I am sure I don't use it to it's full capabilities. I know plenty of people with iPhones and the screen is just way too small for me.

I use Android and only Android. It's what I used first and it's whAt I'm comfortable with so I will use it until or unless it stops existing.
