So I currently have an Air that appears to be starting to have issues. Heats up and battery life is not very good at all after replacing the battery, which I did on my own. I'm going to be traveling and want to have something that has a decent battery life as well as the ability to watch Netflix etc. Any feedback on the iPad would be great cause I have never had anything like that, always a laptop.

My Air is 3-4 yrs old so maybe that is normal for one that age. If there are any tips to prevent it from heating up and increasing the battery life please share, lol.

Thanks a bunch for any input :)

Are you thinking of the iPad Pro?

I don't even know, lol. I am not up to speed on all that stuff sadly. I'm kind of overwhelmed by all the choices. I just want something basically for traveling. I guess it doesn't really have to be an Apple product but it would be nice to be able to use it with my AppleTV so that's why I was initially looking at iPads.

What do you use your AIR for?
The more descript you are then the better the answers you are going to get.
If all you do is watch netflix.. then both a mac book or an ipad would be a poor investment.

I have an iPad 2. I chose it over a netbook based on battery life, and I don't regret it.
It is, at its heart, a really big phone that only makes FaceTime calls. (Although I can use google voice on mine by using that app).

I've not had a proper computer in a few years, although I have access to one if need be.

Reading, movies, Web surfing are all quite easy. My screen is shiny, so there can be glare in bright light.
I do limited work using Apple's version of office suite. (Pages, Keynote)
I have, and should use more, a Bluetooth keyboard.

What this can't do that would be helpful for me:
Flash
Heavy image editing
Self support. I have two stands.

I deal with both. For normal use, word processing, and such; I prefer the Mac Air. For Internet surfing, music, video, I prefer the IPad or the iPhone. However, for travel and business use with one device, I would go with the Mac Air.

You could try and reset the SMC chip in your macbook air
Reset the System Management Controller (SMC) on your Mac - Apple Support

A macbook air runs Mac OS X and can read SD cards run video/photo editing software with more ease then an iPad. iPads work great for just netflix and the web.

You could always try out the new Microsoft Surface pro 4, it runs 9 hours on a charge and offers a lot more bang for your buck specwise then the current macbook air. Or the HP Envy X-series.
