TBH i think you need to look at whos got the best 3g speed and coverage as the iphone is only on o2. Ive been with orange, o2 and t-mobile now with vodaphone and from experience they have the best 3g coverage supporting hspda. But its also dependant on location.

If you want the iphone your stuck with o2. I have a blackberry storm and an HTC Touch HD they are the dogs baws. Loving my blackberry storm right now.

the new iPhone comes with a better graphics chip - so it supports openGL ES 2.0 whereas the old iPhone only supported 1.1 - which means in due time, there will be games out that are *only* for the 3gs, and they'll likely be prettier.

If that and a video camera isn't enough to win you over, you aren't missing much..

(sucks for me as a developer, I need to start saving up to have both phones)

I've got the iPhone 3G and absolutely love it!
Would highly recommend it to anyone.

A little annoyed I didn't wait til the 3Gs but got an update downloaded on SUnday and so have a lot of the improvements anyway.

ALso to come soon, apparently, is more networks.
I really should have waited for that as it'll happen sooner than O2 get's a bloody mast anywhere near me!

My first phone was with Vodaphone always had good service no cause for complaint. Had my phone with them for many years I then switched my Broadband to BT Total Broadband Anywhere. with the Blackberry type handset What a load of rubbish there was a software fualt that caused the phones to over heat to the point you could hardly touch it. Bill were coming in at £145-175 a month just with normal everyday usage. Nothing heavy by any means. One mobile to mobile call cost over £21 for just over the hour call. After many many arguments eventually managed to get out of the contract, otherwise they wasnted £143.00 to release my PAC code.

Now have my Apple i-Phone wow love it love it, it has a wealth of useful features, and I don;t mean gimmicks Seriously look at it if your considering getting one. Yes I am with O2 Pay £45 a month but much cheaper tarifs depending on the package you choose. For £45 I get 1200 mins talk time plus 500 texts and unlimited internet access. Well worth it if you as me. Certainly a lot cheaper than BT and far more friendlier helpful service too.

What do you think, worth it or not?

Cool must have latest shit hot phone?

Over commercialism pansy poof accessory?
You need to ask if you really need it. I mean really need it or is it just to get in with the supposed in-crowd.

Best to wait a little while, let the hype simmer down and then get a better price deal.

I am an apple guy because of their computers, but have been a hater of the iphone and it's lack of features that most basic phones have. I also think of apple, even though I am a fan, as a representation of the devil. With that said, I couldn't wait any longer and finally jumped on the bandwagon when the 3gs came out because it had video and (allegedly) will have MMS capabilities. I am extremely happy with it. The apps are awesome you can do almost anything you want them. Balance you finances or budget, play games, workout apps, etc...People design some crazy and awesome shit.

I'd been wanting an iPhone ever since my BF got one about 8 months ago. Serious case of iPhone envy, let me tell you! I didn't get the 3G right away because I didn't care enough to stand in line for hours, but I've had it about a month now and I LOVE it!!!

Between the apps and the interface, it's a great device. Only wish MMS and tethering rolled out in the US when the unit did.
