You do have to sign up with your email address and they email your score to you. I did it a couple months ago and haven't been bugged by them since.

...we compare an adult's objective results to the objective results of other adults, and determine how intelligent each test taker is compared to all other test takers, instead of comparing test takers to an arbitrary age related standard.

TAG, I think this was too easy, fun, but way too easy.

my thoughts too. I scored 139. I've always been considered "gifted" and have been in the top 10ish percent of my class, but I don't think my real IQ is 139.

oh good. anyone know of any $40K/a jobs taking IQ tests?
[post=312100]Quoted post[/post]

You should know by now they don't give good jobs to intelligent people. They give them to idiots. It's called job security. The person doing the hireing is most certainly not going to hire someone who could easily take away his/her job.

If you guys want to try a free, fairly accurate test, try The International High IQ Society website.

I was expecting it to unmask me as the imbecile I am, and instead it regurgitates an almost identical score to the other one and proclaims me "profoundly gifted" << ---> insert obligatory dick joke hurr hurr >> what I wanna know is if I'm so "gifted" and can fold up retarded origami shapes with my brain and so on then how come I still can't open a carton of milk or orange juice without spilling the fucker? now riddle me THAT, international high iq club

Which one did you take? Have you tried the the test for exceptional intelligence? (probably more accurate in your case.)

ravenously: 157 on this test, similar results on the HIQ society test.

I would mention what my therapist told me I scored on a test when I was 5, but I probably wouldn't be believed anyway. Being the smartest guy around used to be important to me, but it's not anymore

Damn, I must have landed in Lake Woebegone where are the children are above average.

Good for you. Sounds like a healthy development. :)

We don't have to talk about the pitfalls of using the IQ as an accurate measure of anything that substantive, do we? ;) Us of the traditional IQ tools as a means of measuring potential intelligence is a tricky and unreliable practice. (But it can be argued that we need some sort of scale for practical purposes. It's a necessary part of the screening for learning disabilities accomodations for standardized testing and such.)

Anyway, not to rain on the fun parade! You always post the best links, TAG!

I think you took what I was saying out of context. I don't think IQ tests are an accurate measure of anything, but they have a purpose in themselves and are useful tools, and as far as that goes, online versions aren't very accurate (when dealing with spatial reasoning and pattern recognition especially).

I apologize, Dr. Dilznick. I wasn't responding to what anyone in particular said, exactly--just soapboxing about IQ as a concept or measurement in general. I agree that the tests have their uses and don't do as much harm as they used to (as long as you fit the demographic and test well and...) ;)

Sorry if you felt I was attacking your view. I suspect we have very similar opinions on the issue.

Is it just me, or am I coming across as WAY too serious tonight? The sprinkling of smiley faces just isn't cutting the acidity enough, is it?

:p I'll keep working on it.
