who cares if a tribe of Eurocentric do-as-they-are-tolds lose, as log as their poiticiasns tell them they was cheated.
Troll.
who cares if a tribe of Eurocentric do-as-they-are-tolds lose, as log as their poiticiasns tell them they was cheated.
i was watching it here in the USA, and i am shocked...well not really shocked, but stunned and saddened for Ireland...i am gutted for them.
i am not surprised though...integrity, fair play and the rules have gone right out the window in the beautiful game...Blatter and Platini do not care nor do the powers that be.
players know that they will get away with diving, cheating, play acting, getting other players carded, simulation, you name it.
they will not use replay no matter how many games have been ruined by this farce...
opponents of replay say it will "destroy the flow of the game".
horseshit.
important decisions in soccer are much more clearcut then they are in American football, where the decisions can take very long because of the different factors at play in american football.
soccer it is rather simple in replays...it would have taken *5* seconds for the 4th official to see Henry's hand ball...it took a full minute from the time Gallas scored till the time they lined up for the restart....so, celebrating for a minute does not interrupt the flow of the game, which is then decided unfairly, but looking at the play for 5 seconds, and nullifying the goal, and deciding the game fairly does?
Bullshit.
i feel terrible for Ireland...they deserved to get to the shootout....but let's face it, this was on the cards with the seedings for the matchups...no way UEFA would let the "big" countries be in danger of not making it to SA
the game has fallen in to disrepute, because there is no real punishment, the refs simply cannot follow the speed of the game anymore without making errors in a very tough job, then, when players go nuts and scream and yell at the refs for a bad call, the FA, FIFA, UEFA demand "respect" for refs...
well, how do you expect to get respect for refs, when they are trying their best, but screw up a call that decides a game watched by hundreds of millions of people, who all see a clear error, and that mistake cannot be changed, because people like Sepp Blatter say "oh, it would interrupt the flow, and take away the drama of sport and the debate".
this is a fucking copout...i hate that line, that having the debate and controversy over a bad call is a "good thing"...this not a drama class or a debate team.
this is an ATHLETIC CONTEST, where hopes and dreams of people and countries are on the line...players who have trained for years, money invested, etc...you cannot say this is supposed to be "dramatic" by cause of error! It is already drama...and is supposed to be fair.
SPORT IS SUPPOSED TO BE A FAIR CONTEST...not a debate or a play...the drama is in the match, not in a disgraceful error that can cheat players or their fans so everyone can have something to debate about!
if that is what you want, watch a tv panel show! We have the reasonable expectation that every thing possible can abd should be used to guarantee that the rules of the game are enforced through every means necessary, that cheating and diving are not allowed, and errors are minimized as much as possible by using all technology available.
I would say that there might even be a legal case to be made for an unfair business practice against UEFA or FIFA in some way, for deliberately allowing the rules of the game to be flouted although the means exists to combat that.
they must ensure a fair product, as the leagues are businesses under the EU and FIFA...we are consumers, and we have the right to have the product sold to us be fair.
it is not fair any longer.
when someone dives, and replays show they dove to win a penalty and nobody touched them, give them an immediate red card. you will see diving to start to decline once you start truly penalizing it, and using replay to confirm it.
there is no reason why handballs, sure penalties, and clear goals should be messed up anymore.
the technology is there...i have been ranting on this for 10 years now.
the refs have headsets now to talk to each other...well what the fuck is the point of that? so they can discuss a call? wow...groundbreaking...now, imagine how it would work if the 4th official had a *TV* monitor...like the 100s of millions watching at home who can see *CLEARLY* when Henry catches the ball virtually and it leads to a goal
i have had it with the "Beautiful game"...it has become ugly and pathetic. something must be done to save it.
Blatter, Platini et. al are scum.
all good points Flashy. i feel for Ireland and their fans. instead of the beautiful game, i sometimes call it the imperfect game.
Yeah I was pissed about this, how on earth didn't the linesman or the ref spot this??? Like a poster before mentioned, it's the 'hand of God' incident...the sequel.
As an Irish woman living in France I have to report that every single French person I have talked to today has said 'you was robbed'.
Though, I must confess this image, posted on a mate's facebook, did raise a giggle from me.![]()
That handball was blatant as you're going to see.
Henry during his time in England always conducted himself very well. Alot of footballers dont but it just goes to show people will do anything to win.
Im not fully of that opinion.
In truth what Henry says is right. He isnt the referee he is out on that pitch to win help his team win the game. They won job done.
When it comes to football im ultra competitve and winning is everything. I dont go to be entertained. I'd take a season of scrappy horrible ugly 1-0 wins.
I have lost a little bit of the respect I have for Henry, not all of it because at the end of the day he's an awesome footballer and he certainly brightened up the Premier League when he was here.

no, he is not the referee...but he is a sportsman. DiCanio did not have to catch the ball against Everton, but he did.
and i am not watching that Thierry Handry video...i saw more than enough of him in his Arsenal days...
just goes to show...you can take the player out of arsenal, but you can't take arsenal out of the player...
cheating gooner
Yid?
The same Di Canio who shoved over a ref and has caused riots in Italy.
The Henry video is well worth a watch. I'm no Arsenal fan but I can appreicate sheer class despite all this hand of frog as a player, he is just sheer class.
manc
lol
not the italian riot dicanio...the fairplay one
i am still not watching the vid...i have seen them all anyway.
i prefer to sob quietly while watching my Ronaldo compilations :frown1:
