We all have them - words or phrases which really grate on us when we hear them. Usually they are buzz words or coloqualisms. What do you hate to hear being used?

    My shitlist includes:

    Bro
    Bespoke
    Funky
    With all due respect
    Literally ("I literally died...")
    The bigger picture
Vintage (when it really should be "old")

Bro seriously drives me up the wall. My husband has a new client who uses it every chance he gets, to the point of randomly adding it in the middle of a line where it couldn't possibly fit no matter how hard you tried to make it.

Aside from that and literally, pretty much anything used on a regular basis in online gaming...

    "ZOMG"
    "LOLZORZ"
"OMG GAY!" - and any other derivatives that suggest something negative is by it's very definition gay.
"LOL I RAPED HIM" - Sorry guys, it isn't funny, clever or in anyway indicative of what you've just done in a virtual game where your tiny little gnome mage threw a fire ball at an orc and managed to get a lucky crit, killing it. It's insulting and disrespectful to those who've actually been raped, makes you look a bit like a small minded cunt.

I hate thanking someone for anything and being told "no problem" - what does a problem have to do with me thanking someone?

Needless to say . . . when it's followed by something that WASN'T 'needless to say' at all. If you're using the saying in a literal sense, you shouldn't have said what followed it at all (because you didn't need to). And in a colloquial sense, the saying means 'Obviously, . . .' but often when people say 'Needless to say . . .' the thing they follow it with wasn't obvious at all!!! Grrrr!

My other bugbear is 'could care less', used when people mean they 'couldn't care less'. No need to go on about this one because the recent thread on it said it all. Even some of my bestest friends say this and, much as I love you guys, I wince every time.

    HATE
"Aussie! Aussie! Aussie! Oi! Oi! Oi!"
    It drives me insane!

and "It drives me insane!" drives me insane!

Thank you, you just reminded me of the most horridly irritating part of being raised in Wales!

Oggy Oggy Oggy - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Any excuse they can find to use it, they take... I've heard it at sporting events, the cinema, pantomimes, down the pub (with no sports playing!) theme parks, birthday parties, once at a fucking wedding, and I even heard tell of a friend who'd scream it as he came, though I suspect that might have been a lie.

I once heard a woman say, "My boss has been literally chewing my ass off."

What do these morons think that the word "literally" means, anyway? We have this one word in the language for the specific purpose of indicating that we are not speaking figuratively but mean exactly what we say, and shitheads like this use it when they are speaking figuratively and do not mean what they say. They not only undercut the effectiveness of that particular word, but destroy the possibility of expressing that meaning, since there is no other word for the same job.

Cool is . . . well, cool. And the coolest people in the world were using it long before I was born. Therefore, if cool bothers you, you are not cool.

But we can certainly rip the word like out of 'Mericuhn Eeeengleeeesh, as in: Like, ya know? Like, my little brother Sean, like, caught me giving 'ders* to John in my bedroom, and I was all like, "you fucking little shit" "Like you wish you're going to be, like, dead!" Whatever, ya know? it's like, I dunno. Like soooooo pervy like. Ya know? Whatever!"

*ders = blowjob. Short for head or headers.
