Dear LPSG'ers, how are you all today? Great I hope. I'm looking for a little clarity on a subject that was presented to me in another thread. The context of my question has little to do with the debate, but to support their ideology, an LPSG'er stated, and I quote:
"If someone raped a person in a drunken rage and regretted it for the rest of their lives, never raping again, how does that make them a rapist?"
I told him this was bullshit thinking and that he should ask the women here that same question, and his response was, and I quote:
"Ask women, who are emotional to begin with about a one time rapist (a subject that particularly targets their gender), what kind of response do you think they'll give? Of course they're going to side with you. But the reality is, that something a person does only once does not incontrovertibly define their state of being..."
I know I'm stubborn as hell, and people here tell me I'm not "open minded" enough to other people's opinions, so....am I nuts for thinking this way of thinking is completely insane?
I started to ask this question in the "ask a woman" section, but I didn't want to make it a gender specific question. Anyone here agree with this?
