looking for some intelligent takes on ... is anything in STRAIGHT porn real? I mean ANYTHING.

I'm asking because i can't really find anything about straight PORN that authentically translates into real life.

for example, one thing that seems perhaps real is that most men want sex and are visual. They see a beautiful woman and they're ready to go.

Women, however, for sex, want connection and chemistry in the real world -- which takes time, commitment and effort.

If not, women get paid, want compensation or want something "mutually beneficial". Or maybe need a few drinks?

in other words, Porn is just a fantasy for straight men... right?

Got a friend who works in the industry, on the production side, not the performance side. It's all very produced and even "amateur" or "homegrown" scenes are carefully designed for effect. Most obviously, precisely because it's a mega-$$$$ industry, it now attracts significant amounts of talent behind the camera and lights. Like, dudes out of film schools like USC now direct and produce lots of content. Lighting and makeup staff are often real pros too. My buddy has a graduate degree in theatre arts, with a specific focus on technical production. He's worked the theatre scene in both New York and Los Angeles. He knows his shit and people like him are the reason porn looks so beautiful.

Also, male talent all gobble plenty of Viagra or Cialis, are often instructed to jerk out a load before the scene starts and then have cetaphil or something like it injected into their balls to give them the appearance of a massive load. The whole "male porn stars are studs" is a myth. There's no secret to superhuman stamina. Anyone who's ever taken Viagra and fucked for a few hours knows you're hard as steel even though you're not feeling much by round 3. What the dudes should be commended for is the cardio health many of the biggest studs maintain. I, uh, have met Jax Slayher personally (as has my wife) a few years ago. The dude is an athlete, I'll give him that.

Finally, what happens after the scene is decidedly unglamorous. Aftercare of a crazy gangbang or anal scene is as much blood, guts, and shit as you'd think it is if you consider it rationally. Women are often over it and snap out of character in seconds once the director yells cut.

Source: buddy of mine who worked for Brazzers back around 2008ish in the early days and now consults regularly with performers looking to start up an OF account or something similar.

this is great insight. thank you so much. makes all kinds of sense and affirms all my suspicions.

id love to meet your buddy. seems like we're all in the same neighborhood.

i consume porn and I have yet to see anything that remotely resembles reality.

i guess the closest i've seen is is the stag/hotwife thing and swinging scene. i do meet couples for those kinds of scenes but even then, the wives want to feel a connection or some chemistry and meet for a drink first, etc.

the upside is they're already married, so there is no real burden on me to harvest some kind of ongoing relationship. i dont have to take them hiking or shopping or anything, since they're married. Also, most of the Hot wives seem to do it because their husband gets off on it.

If sex is NOT going to be transactional, women need some kind of chemistry, connection. Even the girls in porn have boyfriends and get married.

Also many of the ONLYFANS girls shoot with their boyfriends and husbands.

So yeah, nothing about Porn seems real. I mean when have you ever showed up in a room with a woman you've never met before and had sex? and NOT had to pay for it?

just doesn't happen...

I'm curious since your friend worked for BRAZZERS. how much do women get paid to shoot? how much do the men get?

I imagine huge disparity. I'd love to see Male Porn stars demand EQUAL pay as women. HA!

I've read articles that say the pay difference in straight porn can be thousands per scene. The men are usually thought of as dildos with legs in straight porn. It's why so many men who are personally straight go into gay porn. In gay porn, all the men are paid similarly and paid much more than straight male actors.

EXACTLY!!! this is TRUE.

which really puts in perspective and makes you appreciate how women feel/think about "SEX".

In other words, women need to be paid the SAME amount of money as a STRAIGHT man would need to be paid to have sex with ANOTHER MAN.

as a straight man, how much would you need to be paid to fuck /or be fucked by another man?

for me? i'd say in the millions....

Out of curiosity- were there some gay or bi(not-straight) guys on straight porn sets?

I don't know if it's a matter of disgust or anything exactly. Everyone in the industry just expects a certain amount of money for their labor. I don't think that real gay men are paid less because they're less disgusted. I don't know much about lesbian porn other than that it's popular so probably lucrative.

People who don't like office work aren't paid more than people who do. I know porn is different but ultimately it's just a matter of the price of labor.

My oldest is a teenager, and I've had to have the conversation with him that porn is just theater, nothing more. Real sex look very little like what's on screen (including the uncomfortable positions that maximize being able to see penis-in-vagina).

I've posted elsewhere about conversations I've had with guys who worked in production back in the Golden Age. One was NYC based and the others in LA. Also talked with one A list male Golden Age performer. Their accounts are different than the description above. The sex was more organic and just kind of happened, flowed from one move to another - with some direction but not so staged. The big feature movies - with plot and change of scenery, etc - required some acting. And sex wasn't crammed in to do three or four sex scenes a day. Even in documentary film made post-acting career, guys like John Leslie and Eric Edwards and Don Fernando have said there were "acting" days and "sex days" for a big film. A number of male performers in the 70s and early 80s - did find time to make "loop" ("peepshow") scenes. But still not with the frequency of today's males. Remember also the guys then had no drugs/Viagra/Cialis to help them along - I know even Ron Jeremy before he got dementia etc made this comment a couple times. The production crew was "professional" but not as "professional" or high-tech as today, usually guys were holding lights and mic boom but no real experience, the make up on the girls then was done by a lone woman staff or another actress performer who was in the scene or available that day or the actress herself - this was especially true for loop scenes. The guy who worked in NYC recounts a movie scene where they were filming in a brownstone garden apartment, in a makeshift "office" - three camera guys, mic boom guy, two guy with lights (one was director's assistant) and the director, plus two shady suited guys with sunglasses (likely the $ source for the film). The performers were two ladies - not young things - who were the only women there - they wore the usual corset/fishnet/garters/crotchless panties/high heels you see in movies of the mid 70s. And the guy, who was naked the entire time of the scene, youngish in his 20s. He remembers thinking how weird it was all crowding in this room, about 10 middle aged guys, all dressed, watching this scene unfold, wondering what the young naked guy was thinking. Anyhoo - I talked at length with them, it was fascinating to learn what the environment and culture was like, and hear about some performers - especially the guys. I also chatted at length back in 2000-2002 with...Lasse Braun! He even sent me his book "Lady Caligula" - why I didn't save it (he even autographed it OMG!) I do not know. Definitely interesting insight into Euro porn of the 70s!

not sure what ANY of this has to do with my post. but OK...

BTW, Ron Jeremy is in jail and will die there after being taken to court for accusations of rape and sexual assault on women IN THE BIZ. DURING SHOOTS.

So back to my original point. Nothing about straight porn translates into real life. If it did, Ron Jeremy would not be in jail or accused.

I guess the "acting days" were their days off.

People really like to control these threads. Even though the best part about them is that everyone is supposed to be able to say anything they want.
Anyone is able to say anything they want within the bounds of the rules and, sometimes, the sensibilities of the moderators. What makes you think otherwise?

I'm not saying he was taking down posts or anything. Just that he was trying to control and steer the conversation, and discouraging some things from being discussed.

I see. No one has that power so don't give anyone that power with your silence. What we need is more spirited, civil discussion. The bullies will reveal themselves.

I once heard someone say that they're less actors and more like stuntmen! lol
