I’m from Australia and still haven’t seen a cut guy irl but I’ve heard it’s common in the USA?
At my graduation (over 18), so far as anyone (everyone) knew - there was 1 foreskin amongst us.

Nowadays it's scarce in the U.S. For example, less than 6% of boys are circumcised in California, and it is a hefty expense not covered by medical insurance since it's an optional procedure. While this bothers me tremendously for insurance to take this stance, they now will cover a portion of the cost of breast augmentation for women, as well as erection pills for men because those are "necessities". Like hell they are.

The one thing though I can give props to places in the world where getting snipped is scarce is that they have the lowest levels of violence by comparison. The Middle East, the U.S.A., and portions of Africa have the current highest rates of cut men, and the highest levels of safety instability. New Zealand is the country with the lowest % of cut guys, and one of the friendliest places on Earth to live.

Thanks everyone! So it does seem to be true that it’s more common to be cut if you’re from the USA… so far 78% cut in the USA and 44% cut from elsewhere.

This is false. It doesn't include data from private practitioners which is where the procedure is increasingly being done after birth instead of in the hospital. Declining circumcision rates are primarily driven only by immigrants coming to the US from countries where it is not common to do so (Mexico).

More than 85% of white Americans and over 90% of black Americans are still circumcised. The only reason the overall average is dropping, especially in states with high hispanic populations like CA, is immigration.

I have literally never seen an uncut dick in my entire life and there was only one (supposedly) uncut kid in my entire school

I believe there are regional difference in cut rates based upon ethnicity and demographics, Google searches can confirm regional and national rates around the world.

I did look at rates before; from memory, I recall reading the midwest of the U.S. has a higher rate of circumcision vs other regions

On this site you can pretty much tell which pics of guys are U.S. and say European. Americans are generally cut.

I am Canadian, I was circ'd at 19 y.o. based upon peer pressure with almost 100% of my peers being cut. Being the "odd one out" really left a hindering emotional mark on me. Had I been born in Europe, then it would not have been an issue.

From my perspective, I am happy to be cut; however, I feel that each individual guy now should make that choice for themselves. I do not subscribe to RIC - Routine Infant Circumcision now as I would have in the past. It is not right for anyone else to decide that. If this belief were nation wide, we would need a culture that supported and made circumcisions easily available when the individual felt it was right for them.

I may offend some pro-circ people, but I have had it both ways so I know from first hand experience. I do like the look of an healthy uncut penis and a nicely cut penis. Again, i.m.o. it should be a personal choice.

6% is false and 85% is also false. According to the CDC, approximately 60% of newborns are circumcised in the US. Higher in the Northeast and Midwest, lowest in the West. The trend is moving downward though, and I have a hard time finding any cut guys anymore... Uncut is not the rare unicorn it used to be, that's for sure.

I have not seen an insurance company (I work in health insurance) not cover it, but I'm from the Northeast. Plans can have differing benefits elsewhere, but that particular procedure I've never seen not covered. It's not an expensive one anyway (~$300-400), so the insurance companies wouldn't be saving much leaving it out.

In the US and am uncut. Cut still seems to be the prevalent status but, anecdotally speaking, I seem to be seeing more uncut cocks starting from the past few decades whether it's cultural (mostly from a European background as in my case and many guys I know), medical or just personal choice. Uncut also seems to be becoming common among younger guys which I assume is fathers deciding not to cut their sons (whether the dad is cut or not).

Others have disputed those figures but to take up the point of insurance, if you want to be pedantic, insurance is taking a premium to cover for something that is expected not to happen but, if it did, would be beyond the means of the insured person, hence you're paying someone else who has the money to take that risk on your behalf.

By that definition, circumcision should be out but so should breast argumentation and even childbirth, as people have children by choice, at least usually.

But, of course, companies can offer a plan for routine expenditure. Round here vets offer plans to cover the routine cost of keeping, for example, a dog, so you pay so much a month and in return the dog gets the annual health check, all vaccinations, flea and worm treatment etc. It isn't insurance because there isn't any risk - it is just summing up the cost of these items over a year and offering a way to pay a fixed monthly sum instead. Then there is actual insurance, for covering the cost of treating accidents or unexpected illness.

Back to humans and it seems what some companies are calling health insurance is actually a hybrid between these two product types and what is covered is, of course, up to them.

The one thing though I can give props to places in the world where getting snipped is scarce is that they have the lowest levels of violence by comparison. This is not the first time I have heard that and one explanation proposed for it is that circumcised boys have some suppressed memory of the trauma of being circumcised and that this fuels violent behaviour later in life. I think differences between countries in this is probably not sufficient to prove anything here as there are almost certainly too many confounding factors. But maybe it is something that should be investigated in a proper study.

Born in the UK and cut as an infant, thought it was common as close friends were also cut but started to see the big picture from teen and college years. Around 10%-15% in the UK now and falling, I'd say closer to 10% based on personal experience.

Doesn't bother me being in a minority, I also believe it should not be a routine procedure unless medically necessary, wait till the owner is 18 to decide.

Literally every single person I’ve ever known is cut. You people are smoking crack if you think the rates are going down amongst white Americans. Like I keep telling you, it’s immigrants and their children that make the percentages look lower. Americans that have been here for generations are still cut as they should be.

good points that you make .... being circ'd really does run from generation to generation; so if u are cut, chances are your off spring are cut
