It's a question I often ask myself because it's clear from looking at old film and specially tv series, like scifi stuff and cop programmes, that showing off was pretty much a matter of course not so long ago. It turns me on gutless but the whole trend seems to have turned right against it, with a few exceptions. i do wonder whether guys are just more self conscious and fearful - it might just be that people are not so relaxed about it as they were in the 70s and 80s. I saw this clip of singer Andy Kim from the 1970s and Jesus it was amazing. Singing Rock Me Gently on a roof somewhere! Cock fullon packaged and you just could not miss it. I jacked off for ages looking at that. Actually showing off a clear dick outline like that now is very rare. I see them rarely and I work in a clothes store.for mostly younger clients.
Back in the 70s’ guys would use sandpaper to burnish their jeans so as to highlight their bulge. (like shown in the last pic of post #98). My bet is that if dress style were left up to men, bulges would be a lot more in fashion.
For some reason back in the 70s’ both fashion and social attitudes regarding sex / body parts took a 180 degree turn away from conservative rules. I remember that a small relatively conservative community I lived in started having Porno Fridays at a local movie house. All the college kids showed up and no one challenged it for years.
I am also convinced that when many women (but not all) see a healthy bulge on a guy they suffer some form of rape anxiety. As a result one unanticipated impact of the well-meant female independence movement over the last 30-40 years, has told guys to keep their dick hidden and their packages in a closet.
My bet is that a lot of the towel dance mentality in the US today has its roots in this unspoken behavioral modification process.
