I very much like the idea of going your own way and living a life that makes you happy regardless of society's programming and expectations. It is this idea that always attracts me to MGTOW, but the rampant misogyny and anti-feminist rhetoric really leaves me flat. I keep on waiting for MGTOW to evolve past the stupid anti-women thing and become something more inclusive and positive, but it just doesn't seem to be happening and I'm beginning to wonder if it can happen.

Do you guys think MGTOW can lose the sexism or is hatred of women just too deeply ingrained into the ideology to ever go away?

What’s wrong with being anti-feminist?

I think the movement has kind of a loud minority of women haters, but the vast majority just try to raise awareness for men’s issues in relationships and so on. Calling out hypocrisy and double standards isn’t misogyny.

You’re gonna have to be more specific

No I’m serious. What’s wrong with not being a feminist?
I honestly don’t understand the question. Feminism is the belief that all sexes and genders are equal. Why would someone be against that?

It’s not. It’s “the advocacy of women’s rights...on the grounds of equality”.

So it’s not really an equal movement, especially when you consider that their activism is almost solely pro-female and quite anti-male. I actually find it to be incredibly sexist and demeaning in many ways.

You know there isn’t a manifesto, right?

We are both right. It will mean different things to different people. For me and many others, it is the quote in my post. It is women being able to vote, equal pay, rights to their own bodies which is not a thing in many, many countries.

It is losing the stigma of having a voice without being told to shut up, you’re just a woman.

Feminism is so important, it really is.

Yeah I agree.

When it comes to other countries (namely Islamic ones and under-developed ones) I’m a staunch feminist.

When it comes to the West, I’m definitely not lol.

Haha. You’re still a feminist, you’re just against the far right but, where would equal rights be without violence and standing strong? Civil rights movement, stonewall. You need to fight to make a change.

When I identified as a gay man, I was lauded and empowered for being strong, loud, sassy and opinionated. Now I’m crazy, hormonal, I need to sit down and shut up and let the men speak. It’s so surreal. Men actually block me now for having opinions. The west is terrible when you’re not a feminist, too.

Hmm no I see myself as an equalist. Meaning I support equality whichever way it’s needed (and yes that definitely includes advocating for men’s rights and criticising western feminism).

That’s horrible what you experienced, truly. However I could just as easily say that women have called for me to kill myself and so on because I so much as questioned the causes of the ‘wage gap’, as it’s dubbed. The difference is that you’ve got a movement that is held highly in mainstream culture to support you. Men like myself do not, and anyone that tries to bring attention to what I’ve mentioned is always seemingly branded a “misogynist” by feminists.

Idk, the term has become reactionary and associated with far too many toxic people/toxic causes for me to want to slap that label on myself.

I have no problem with others choosing that label, just so that’s clear. As long as you’re not a screeching banshee when faced with questions, you’re all good haha

MGTOW is hilarious to me. I don’t know a lot about it but it seems like borderline personality disorder. In the sense that these MGTOW want women to chase after them.

Lol you need to understand the fundamentals of the movement.

I don’t like to associate myself with the label but I consider myself kind of a ‘going my own way’ Guy. Not really wanting marriage because of the obvious risks as a man, and I’ve had enough toxic girlfriends to turn me off heterosexual relationships for quite a while.

Im actually experimenting with my bi side now as a result and I loveee men haha. Big burly masculine men, kinda like me. Wish I’d started earlier. Women still “chase” me to a degree but it’s not really something I want, nor seek.

Btw be careful with the other comments. You could get banned for that.

That’s the type of feminist I am. I couldn’t raise healthy young men and hate them at the same time. They’re lovely human beings! I want men and women to both be free to be equal without cumbersome gender roles. We still have work to do in Western countries, but a huge amount to be done in other countries in terms of education, employment, and the general treatment of women.

There’s a long way to go, but I hope we get there.

I don’t think it can because the misogyny is the ideology
