I don't see how any of the things you've mentioned even alludes to him being gay; however, your best bet is to just talk with him. If it's that important to you, "pressuring"him shouldn't make a difference. When sex declines, there is something wrong.

He’s 37, but he works a ton of hours and is under more stress than any brain surgeon on call might be.

Communication sucks because it’s one sided. I initiate the talk, he sits there like a clam and just....listens.
Just recently he told me it could be a health issue bc he’s had some weird pains and a lack of sex drive. I just have to wonder if that’s another way for him to put me off, even if for just one more day.
