I have posted a thread in the Et Cetera section in January, with an excerpt called "10 lies about porn". Some of these lies can be tied in when the degree of degradation is being judged.
There are sexual practices that are degrading, and there are some actors who are (in-)famous for using them, or for being excessively violent during the shootings. The website where I got this article from featured the story of an actress shooting a movie called "Donkey Slam" or something, and the actor she had to shoot her scene with actually hit the back of her head, wearing a solid, heavy gold ring on one of his fingers. The report continued, telling about fissures and other injuries on the base of her skull caused by this shooting, and the male actor proudly boasting with these deeds, and his generally dismissive attitude towards female co-stars.
Another factor that makes porn degrading is the fact that porn actresses are proverbially ripped off. Okay, the payment of their male co-stars is even worse, but the only ones who make profit with porn videos are the producers, their piece of the cake is by far the biggest, unproportionally large compared to what is paid to the actresses and actors. Maybe they don't do bad, compared to other jobs, but $$ 2,000 for a scene, shot for a movie that made 500K in its first year is a rip-off. Contract stars have an active time of five years, on average, and during these will make about $$ 75,000 per year, meaning 375,000 during their whole career. Okay, there are some careers where you will make even less, but does it weigh up the restrictions that are imposed on you? Constant physical training, eating carefully, no pregnancy/family founding. And a strong limitation put on your past-porn career life: There are only few women who can tie in a successful career with their porn career.
PS: I just notice this is my post number 777, which is the type number of a Boeing plane, and the latest model in service. *Tossing a confetti chip for that*
