I definitely don't think it is degrading. It is a job. And several players are involved all signing contracts and the like. However as in many large industries you are always going to get those wackos that somehow get by legally. I have seen some porn in my time, that truly disgusted me, and I was actually angry that they allow it to be screened. But that is the catch 22, someone wants it to be screened. And you assume that the actors and actresses don't mind doing the job allocated to them. So then, who am I to protest if I don't like it. I guess I just wont watch it next time. As for mistreatment, well people always get mistreated. In banks, on construction sites, etc. That always needs to be addressed. And as for fair share of profits, that has nothing to do with degradation. A union is the best way for a group of actors or actresses to make a difference in their working conditions. Untill that is a strong union, the pay will always be miniscule.
