You only see this if you assume all crime is racially motivated, then completely ignore evidence that African-Americans are more likely to be convicted (which is further evidence of racism).

How can you possibly live in this society and conclude that white people are the "real" victims of racism?
Let's see....
Only pops in to rant about black crime or statements that she considers wrong. Statements against cops made by whites is ignored

Never misses an opportunity to comment on negatives that she associates with blacks

I'm pretty sure what she is.

I just want to see if she knows, or denies it to herself.

After all, this behavior is hardly new. The Nazis used to claim they were "the real victims" even while the death camps were in operation. Apartheid South Africans insisted that they were being "persecuted" by their victims. Muslims in Muslim-majority countries insist that they are being "persecuted" by religious minorities. It's a common tactic by bigots to justify their own evil.

@Mercurygirl:

first, this thread is about America, not Italy. If you want to start a thread about racism in Italy instead than hijaking this thread, it would be better.

Second, two torts don't make a right, so you arguing makes no sense.

Third, there has never been apartheid neither exclusion of voting rights based on ethnicity or religion, where in USA universal suffrage dates to 1965, before that voters couldn't vote.

Fourth, every American racist keeps repeating that fact about one- just one - idiot in Italy who has shown a banna to a minister to make fun of her; in USA Obama has been called in the most insulting ways by countless right-wings, and you can see many examples of those hatred name callings in this very same forum, so it would be like USA 100 - Italy 1, as far as racism goes.

Fifth, your very same retaliative and violestyle helps making my point, with your blind pointing to blacks violence hand in hand without questioning the causes of that and ad hoc forgetting the countless proven examples of gratuitos, and often lethal, Police violence toward blacks in USA.

Sixth, I am not "pointing any finger", I am telling yours how USA is seen out of USA.

One thing you re right: yes, I am audacious.

Love it. More European elitism. Honestly, if anything happened in Italy other than in relation to the Pope (and yes, I am aware the Vatican is a city-state), or God forbid a terrorist attack, who would care? It would be a blip in the evening news, and we'd all forget after 5 minutes. This is how the US views the rest of the world. Not saying this is exclusive to every American, nor am I agreeing with it, but it's reality. All while the rest of the world puts the US under a microscope, and professes to tell us about their stereotypes and misperceptions about our country. Again, someone who traveled here told them so.

Thanks for reinforcing my views.

Well perhaps you should be aware of his views....

A foreigner who agrees with his views is welcome to express them and their opinion is valid and deserves to be considered and respected. Now if you disagree or state something that portrays his way of life negatively you're an elitist and only you've been told. Funny how agreeable foreigners know from experience and not because someone may have told them so.

Wait, not being racist is "European elitism"?

We have a system of online petitions. If enough people sign one, our parliament has to discuss it. Please do not be so ignorant again.
Thanks for clearing that up. So no one was arguing in favor of Trump or his policies?

What about in popular media? Is all the coverage of Trump negative, or are there sympathetic voices over there?

Your Mr. Trump is a vulgar oaf. He is very much of your your making. You get the leaders you deserve.
I disagree. USA had (well, still has) a black president, who has not done everything right but is not vulgar neither ineducated at all. Most of Americans aren't racists neither look like Trump, that would be a stereotypical statement, and sterotypes are a form of racism. You look a bit venomous lately Drifterwood.

I moved to the USA from the UK and here is the simple answer: the USA is racist if you live in the wrong place. I live in a state that is multicultural and a lot more tolerable than other states. The USA is likely to be more racist if you live in South Carolina compared to New York. I've not experienced racism in my neck of the woods, but I'm sure it exists. With police brutality and Donald Trump supporters, there are no shortage of racists. But I will never say that the entire country is racist based on the views and actions of some. Plus, a racist country isn't going to give a black male the chance to take charge of their country. That hasn't happened in the UK. Say what you will about the USA, but they are the only first world country in recent memory that has given a person of ethnic minority the chance to rule their country.

Drift has a point.

Republican propaganda and Republican politicians have been using coded language and subtle racism for decades. This allows people to be racist while simultaneously denying their own racism, even to themselves. I even hear the occasional American liberal using Republican talking points in discussions about race.

All Trump is doing is saying openly what Republican public figures have been carefully hinting at for decades. The fact that he is the Republican front runner says much.

Not all Americans are like Trump. Many of us hate him with a burning passion, but I cannot deny that his stupidity and evil are representative of a great many Americans. Not all, maybe not even half, but we are still talking about a very large number and he will get millions of votes in the general election.

I've lived in Europe.

In some ways, Europeans are more racist, in others Americans are more racist. The nature of the racism can vary greatly from country to country, which is why I generally shy away from direct comparisons between countries.

Americans treat Muslims very badly these days, but by the same token, Muslim-Americans don't riot the way Muslim-French do. Is one form of mistreatment worse than the other? I really can't say. They're just different.

We elected an African-American president, and yet African-Americans are still statistically much more likely to be gunned down in confrontations with the police.

When living in Germany, I saw German police treat African-American kids (not African-German) badly, but they never killed a kid for having a toy gun. :(

What percentage of people vote in USA? I mean, how many people abstain from the vote? Another point would be, how many people vote Trump because his racist views, and how many despite his racist views? I think the Trump phenomenon is more complex than just a matter of racism. I'd say americans with strong racists views are still a minority in USA, although not a small minority.

The comments from Europe regarding the U.S. are really sad, considering the fact that the U.S. saved their sorry asses in 2 world wars. When the next one comes around, how 'bout we just let them fight it on their own.
