Love it. More European elitism.

European elitism isn't any worse than American elitism, but you can only see the one and not the other.

Why was JFK the first Catholic President to be elected? Why is only 2% of Google's technical staff black? Could a poor, black man get away with rape because he "wouldn't fare well" in prison, as a Du Pont did? How did affluenza become a legal defense? Why is crack more criminalized than cocaine (they're the same drug)?

These some questions you may want to ask yourself before you make any spurious conclusions about elitism.

The comments from Europe regarding the U.S. are really sad, considering the fact that the U.S. saved their sorry asses in 2 world wars. When the next one comes around, how 'bout we just let them fight it on their own.
Which wars? Maybe you should study a bit of history. What that has to do with the topic anyway?

Not sure if you're a troll because your post reads like a bumper sticker.

Anyway, many European nations were among the Coalition of the Willing.

As Janet said, "What have you done for me lately?"

Since you brought up WW2 how would the people then reacted to tRump or Cruz's words? Replace Muslim with Jew. Start with a patrol, round them up, and kick them out. How is that different than how Hitler began? I'm sure he didn't begin with talk of killing all that were different.

Read a few of the posts above and you'll understand my comment. My comment was in response to the people using this topic to bad-mouth the U.S. Oh, and "which wars?," talk about needing a history lesson.

Ok. Attempt if you will, to think back further than 100 years..say to the revolutionary war...Spain and France supported the revolution against their enemy the British. I call you and raise you one...but if it weren't for European countries, there wouldn't be any USA, your turn

Yeah talk about that. It was the evil USSR saving Europe ass in WW2 :

Stalin directed the Red Army to move rapidly in a broad front into Germany because he did not believe the Western Allies would hand over territory they occupied, while he made the overriding objective capturing Berlin.[106] After successfully capturing Eastern Prussia, three Red Army fronts converged on the heart of Eastern Germany, with one of the last pitched battles of the war putting the Soviets at the virtual gates of Berlin.[107] By April 24, Berlin was encircled by elements of two Soviet fronts,[108] one of which had begun a massive shelling of the city on April 20 that would not end until the city's surrender.[109] On 30 April, Hitler and Eva Braun committed suicide, after which Soviet forces found their remains, which had been burned at Hitler's directive.
Soviet Union in World War II - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In WWI, the USA joined the war when was already ending, and they didn't fight that well, making one mistake after the other. Wikipedia will help you in this case too.

Not saying that USA intervention has not being relevant in both cases, but far from "saving Europe' ass". If you want to see for somebody saving asses, look at the American Revolution, without the help of Europe USA would hav remained a UK colony.

Now maybe we could go back to the original topic.

What percentage of people vote in USA? I mean, how many people abstain from the vote? Another point would be, how many people vote Trump because his racist views, and how many despite his racist views? I think the Trump phenomenon is more complex than just a matter of racism. I'd say americans with strong racists views are still a minority in USA, although not a small minority.
It's not very complicated at all.

Anyone who isn't racist would be repulsed by a racist candidate.

You've missed my point. No one is denying racism exists. It's when one implies it's "worse" somewhere else, and feels the need to point it out, while being oblivious to their own issues.

Really? You're going there?

You lot keep demanding that we ignore the past crimes of America, but whenever it's convenient, you love throwing the past in other people's faces.

No one is ignoring "any possible racism at home". About everyone has wrote that racism exists in some form everywhere. What some are arguing is that they perceive that it is stronger in USA (among developed countries). Have you seen this post?

That is not a matter of 70 years ago, it is a matter of today.

Really? Well, since you are being so condescending and purposedly obtuse, I'll tell you something that you don't know: racism properly said, ad the idea tht one race is better than others, is a specific American product. Other nations could have the idea that their culture was better than others, but not theat a race is better than others. "White supremacy" is made in USA and you can find it in other English speaking countries. That can explain why you have Nazists and Klu Klux Klan supporting Trump right now, while you are dening that USA has a problem with racism.

Why argue with him? He purposely doesn't understand that saying that blacks just need to be more respectful is the same as saying "know your place". A white person who speaks back to a cop is described as just expressing his freedom of speech but a black person doing the same is called disrespectful, a thug, or just mouthing off.

He may not be racist(only those who know him can say one way or the other)but many of his views echo the comments made by those who proudly proclaim their supposed superiority.

It's not specifically American.

American racism is different because it has roots in white Americans encouraging racism in poor white Americans in order to screw over poor white Americans. If you pay attention, you can see it plain as day in modern Republican rhetoric on racial issues.

European prejudice trends to be more rooted in nationalism-based xenophobia and making excuses for colonialism. For instance, when I lived in Germany, I heard Germans saying shocking things about Greeks and southern Italians that racist white Americans would not say.

The prejudice is different because of different histories, but you can't blame it all on America. If I had to make a call, I would say America is worse, particularly given that we have had significant racial minorities for longer and should know better by now.

I disagree. USA had (well, still has) a black president, who has not done everything right but is not vulgar neither ineducated at all. Most of Americans aren't racists neither look like Trump, that would be a stereotypical statement, and sterotypes are a form of racism. You look a bit venomous lately Drifterwood.

I am not calling Obama an oaf. Only Trump, in response to the question.
