Sometimes around here, I come away feeling like a man "behind the times" and perhaps I am. Afterall, I AM older than many on here and definitely "set in my ways".
I have always felt most comfortable wearing SOMETHING to bed, so there....I've admitted to it.
--I find no fault to sleeping "in the altogether" and I want to remain "friends" here with all of you who do.
Maybe it's the concern of the "sanitation factor" or something...like our friend DMW who coined that phrase in several other threads-- "a unit that's a drooler"....
While I don't have awful "leaky plumbing" so to speak, I do find it reassuring to have some kind of "protective" fabric between "him" and the bed linen---just in case I am in deep sleep and suddenly awaken to the urgent need to get down the hall (what if I am abit late responding to the call while in slumberland?) -- or upon returning and a few subsequent "drips might still remain" if you know what I mean as I get back undercover. Yep--it's obvious. --I'm a born worrier.
'Must be that scouting thing when I learned "always be prepared!"
FYI--I generally tend to prefer full-cut boxers for the most part and / or PJ bottoms (seasonally, that is).
Most times just the boxers will do, thank you very much.
And, I especially liked the point of view from AnonyMs:

"...I like a guy to wear a little something to sleep in - briefs, boxers, jammie bottoms, what have you. It adds to a sense of mystery and it's fun to take 'em off....
[/quote]
...Well now, that's a thought!
--- and, one where a lot of us could easily "arise to the occasion!"
How many of us guys ever looked at it from that "side of the bed?"
