I'd say the middle ground is that many of the personal anecdotes are true on both sides.
What's the most sensitive part of your dick? Ask yourself and many other people, you'll probably get different answers. There have been polls about this on LPSG, and respondants, cut or uncut, answer with a variety of different locations. The same is true for foreskin mobility, lubrication issues, etc.
The problem with circumcision is that even doing it the exact same way to different people could yield vastly different outcomes as a result of this variety. If you leak precum like a faucet and the most sensitive part of your penis is the frenulum, and you get a circumcision that spares your frenulum, you might swear by it as the greatest thing ever. If, however, you produce very little precum and the most sensitive part of your penis is the ridged band at the end of your foreskin, you're pretty well screwed.
The middle ground is that circumcision is an inexact science which affects different penises in different ways because said penises are themselves different. The reason why I am against circumcision of children is because of this fact; such an uncertain outcome should not be permanently decided for someone.
I personally have a friend who is now 19, and I feel very sorry for him. He was circumcised fairly tight when he was 9 and now requires a prolonged session of masturbation (over 45 minutes) with a good deal of KY to cum, and sometimes he loses his erection long before this point. The reason for his circumcision? His mother didn't feel comfortable explaining how he should keep it clean. Considering she works as a nurse, I find this equal parts ironic and sad.
