I'm Not talking
- Medical reasons/arguments
- Morals/Ethics (I.E. Is it right to circumcise someone who can't consent)
- Other aspects I may have overlooked

I Think it's one of the main points of the issue
- That of Sensitivity/ Aesthetics / overal for both partners.

Circumcision is evil and all of you cut bastards have sold your souls to the devil. Your dicks are ugly and you don't feel nothin' when you get a bj. You were mutilated as a child and you are jealous of the intact folk because of it. Your only hope for salvation is if you stretch what skin you have left to resemble a foreskin and make sure the doctors don't chop off your son's skin when he's born. But at the same time, foreskins are dirty and vile and revolting. If you're uncut, you automatically have aids and herpes and your dick smells like a rotting corpse. You're a miserable little sinner and your extra flap of skin will condemn you to hell. You jiz in your pants every time the win blows when you try and pull your skin back to look like the cool uncut kids. So the only way to save yourself is to chop off your dick entirely and laugh at the dumbasses still fighting over whose penis is more politically correct.

That, my friend, is the middle ground.

I'm Betting that E Man probably has intelligent things to say on that one issue I was trying to emphasize.

What I mean is, is that many arguments have been put forward for why uncut and cut have sexual benefits and I was wondering if anyone had made sense and possible seen that there may be truth to *Both* of them and found some middle ground.

The middle ground: A partial circumcision at middle-age (about 35-40) :)

There is no middle ground for a child. Either you allow a piece of them to be hacked off or die of gangrene, or you don't.

For an adult, it's whatever you want. It's your penis. I've seen them cut in half like an overcooked hot dog. Like a tatoo, whatever you wish, is what goes.

I'd say the middle ground is that many of the personal anecdotes are true on both sides.

What's the most sensitive part of your dick? Ask yourself and many other people, you'll probably get different answers. There have been polls about this on LPSG, and respondants, cut or uncut, answer with a variety of different locations. The same is true for foreskin mobility, lubrication issues, etc.

The problem with circumcision is that even doing it the exact same way to different people could yield vastly different outcomes as a result of this variety. If you leak precum like a faucet and the most sensitive part of your penis is the frenulum, and you get a circumcision that spares your frenulum, you might swear by it as the greatest thing ever. If, however, you produce very little precum and the most sensitive part of your penis is the ridged band at the end of your foreskin, you're pretty well screwed.

The middle ground is that circumcision is an inexact science which affects different penises in different ways because said penises are themselves different. The reason why I am against circumcision of children is because of this fact; such an uncertain outcome should not be permanently decided for someone.

I personally have a friend who is now 19, and I feel very sorry for him. He was circumcised fairly tight when he was 9 and now requires a prolonged session of masturbation (over 45 minutes) with a good deal of KY to cum, and sometimes he loses his erection long before this point. The reason for his circumcision? His mother didn't feel comfortable explaining how he should keep it clean. Considering she works as a nurse, I find this equal parts ironic and sad.

The esthetics of this will always remain a matter of opinion.

The changes in sensation are a direct result of the quality of the job. Good or bad there are really bad circ's and good ones. If the MD doing this goes out and makes a "boo boo" that will translate into lessening of sensation for the person over time.

Some men who have been circ'd in adulthood claim that initially after circumcision they have extreme sensitivity issues with the glans of their penis. It is claimed that this diminishes over time. IF this is true then it would tend to indicate that performing any type of circumcision would have the ability to diminish sensation from that of an uncircumcised penis.

I was as was most of my generation "chopped". The funny thing about this is that I did not really come to resent it until I heard the whole story of it from my Mother. I did not really know anything else. I also did not know until later that a my very tight circ may have contributed to some premature ejaculation problems when I was just beginning to get used to jacking-off. Over a decade ago, I was questioned on some things when I saw a urologist on a totally unrelated issue. He asked some questions regarding my circ. The questions he asked me tended to indicate that what was done to me was less than a great job.

There is no one really correct opinion on this one. The only thing I think is that when a circ is done, the MD in question needs to leave some loose skin and not make the whole thing tight as a drum head. As the penis grows and matures in a child the problems may not show up until well after puberty and penile growth has taken place. At that time, the problem would be that because the kid never knew anything else that the problem would not be properly diagnosed.

No two penises are alike so the effects and problems could be different on each one.

Mother nature has spend many hundreds of million of years in research to form this perfect structure, how is it that this can ever pose any benefit to us?

No it can't.

It is a part of us, and in fact the very part that we use to continue our existence, mother nature would have based thorough research on it's development.

And yes, removing 50 to 80% of the nerve endings and many specialized nerves and a specialised structure is certain to be a downfall. it is outright madness

I had a foreskin for 40 yrs., and I can say that there is definitely NO advantage in having a foreskin. Getting it removed was the best thing I ever did.

This question is virtually impossible to answer!!

comments like liberia's are subjective. he claims there is no advantage to having foreskin. perhaps his was tight, perhaps he sweat a lot - cleanliness, perhaps his circumcision was recently done and the sensitivity has not yet diminished.

6928's comments make sense - over millions of years humans have developed a useless piece of skin??? come on.

sensitivity is subjective! how can anyone possible measure sensitivity. I have been with plenty of men both cut and uncut and each group of men has different sensitivity.

there are significant social and cultural forces at work when it comes to the whole circumcision battle! i love cut cock. would I cut mine? NEVER. If I had a son I would not circumcise him either.

I firmly believe that there is a reduction in sensitivity longitudinally. From my experience with men cut at birth is that as they age their sensitivity decreases. I have had many lengthy conversations with them regarding sensitivity. Each of them has expressed that they are less sensitive than when they were younger but cannot pin point a time when they sensitivity began to decrease. HOWEVER, ask any uncut man and they too have lost some sensitivity - with the exception of those than have phimosis or tighter skin that tends to remain over the head even when erect. I do not believe that there is any uncut man out there that is as sensitive as they were at 13. That purple head gets used to stimulation over time. The reduction in sensitivity is gradual over many many years.

Sensitivity is subjective. period.

Actually, you can objectively measure sensitivity, and it has been done. Here is the study which conducted it. http://www.nocirc.org/touch-test/bju_6685.pdf

Studies have repeatedly shown that age decreases sensitivity, but this is like an episode of House, in that we're not looking at just one cause. If someone loses sensitivity due to long term-keratinization of the skin, aging, and nerve loss due to circumcision all at the same time, trying to pinpoint one cause for their decreased pleasure wont work.

Instead of viewing the penis as a collection of pieces, some to spare, some to discard, could we view the penis holistically like we view all other body parts?
