Maggie, you seem like a bright girl. A lot of us learn our way around lovemaking from someone older, nothing gross about it at all, once you are of age and making your own decisions. All I'd suggest is that you stay alert, and if the relationship seems to be taking a turn for the more serious, ask a lot of questions about what is expected of you and what you can expect of him.
