Hi

I got circd back in October 2017. One thing I've noticed is in 2018 I got rough skin on the glans (topside nearest to inner foreskin).

Is this keratinization? What's odd is:

a) this change in skin texture has not spread to other parts of the penis
b) the feeling in that part of the glans is the same as before my cut. The most pleasurable part of my penis has always seemed to be the top near the meatus and the Corona.

The effected area is the bit I manipulate most in masturbation.

However I'd love to remove this texture. Any recommended creams? I try Shea butter.

Similarly to a foot that stops wearing shoes to walk around, the surface of your now exposed penis has to compensate by hardening and drying up. Since its protective cover is now removed, you can only protect it by simulating a foreskin via a senslip(tm) or similar apparatus, research it. Daily rubbing on fabrics and clothing will just continue and deteriorate what you have already seen within just 1 year.

Any sort of cream you put on it, will never stay on for 24/7 in the same way your foreskin was protecting your glans, you would literally have to reapply the moisturizing creams every 2-3 hours. Similarly to people using eyedrops when their eyelids have been compromised by burns etc.

It probably hasn’t spread because it takes time. When I was “cut” my corona never keratinized, I could very clearly see the color difference and texture change. I know when I started to restore, it took over 6 months fully covered for my entire head to dekeratinize, I only bring that up because I thought it would be quicker, but I HAD to have full time coverage for that to happen. Your texture may not change but don’t let that stop you from keeping your glans moisturized. I use coconut oil because I get a 2 for 1 as I use it to masturbate with occasionally.

Just as when you get cut I started to notice all
At once that that layer started to peel off rapidly once it started.

From what I can see in your pictures, that is a straight forward, keratinized glans penis. It hasn't spread because the rest of the penile skin is already keratinized. Skin lotion will soften it a bit, but this is what happens. Glad you have no real change in sensitivity, that's what must guys who were cut after becoming sexually active report. Welcome to our club! Stop fretting.

Thanks. Are you saying the coconut oil will help reverse keratinization?

Everywhere else in the glans is soft and smooth.

What's surprising is sensitivity has not changed isn't this the classic telltale sign of keratinisation? Even the effected part has not got worse.

If I did moisturise daily from when I was cut would this be available?

To be honest, I’m not sure you can. You can soften it and stay moisturized. I didn’t notice the reversal of keratinization until I maintained 24/7 coverage for months. I would like more people to input on this, I can only speak from a restoration perspective. I didn’t try to dekaritinize while remaining exposed, but keeping moisturized didn’t have that effect, keeping covered did.

Also I am not sure it’s a telltale sign. When you head expands it opens up to softer tissue, which is why the “cracks” don’t seem to be noticeable so much when rock hard with a big glans.

@hunGreek mentions the senslip, which simulates the foreskin covering.

You need to distinguish between keratinization and just wrinkles.
After circumcision, a glans tends to chjange shape a bit. more bulbous, less tapered. This means some areas inflate more when erect than others, and those that inflate more will shrink more when soft, and hence you will find wrinkles there.

Yeah, I do that too. It keeps the head smooth and sensitive. I use a mix of shea butter and coconut oil.
I'm currently using some day cream and night cream that the wife has.
If it's good enough for her face then it's got to be good for my head.
