Is this where the country is heading? I'm sorry to say but I think we are already there. There have been countless anti-semitic attacks in the NY area in recent years. Recently there have been attacks against Mexicans in Staten Island, the number of these attacks on illegal aliens and latino citizens in the NY metro area are rising as reported almost daily in the local news.
This is another act of hatred and intolerance but in NYC it's not new no matter how much the mayor denies it.

The issue is not "we", it's more like you.
Race always has and always be an individual issue. As for me, a person who never made it a point to hang out with people of my own color since I was six, accepting people for being different has never been a problem with me. However, I don't have to accept or tolerate everything a person says or does. Stupidity and ignorance frustrates me the most. Most issues surrounding race are fueled by that kind of animosity.

But believe me when I said that there were many, MANY clues as to where our country was heading going back as far as a few years ago (if not even further). Please don't tell me when "so-called small things" such as the political cartoon caricaturing our president as an assassinated chimp didn't clue you in? Or was it Arizona's "Papers Please" law? Perhaps it was the phony, politically fueled escalation of voter intimidation claims of a three man group that calls themselves the New Black Panthers? The Ohio Sniper attacks, maybe? How about those firefighters who thought it was unfair that they had to take a second test since they already passed an exam in Connecticut? The Tanning Tax? Need I go on? The signals were always there. The only difference now is that some paranoidal people have been able to collectively place a foreign face to the word "evil".
