What is the value of your meaningless sex? Is it an addiction or a preference?

Is it possible to have meaningful anonymous sex?

I wouldn't say meaningless! I do have a good time (most of the time!)

I'm definitely after something more now... I really hate hooking up/one night stands. But sometime it's just so tempting. I long for a boyfriend, but he's not around yet :(

I don't think any sex is meaningless. There's always a meaning or a reason for it, even if that meaning is just the experience of pleasure.

I'd say my life is more like an endless string of meaninglessness without the sex. :biggrin1: <- I just love this emoticon...

That's my opinion too. I guess many people just attach meaninglessness to it as an artifact of not-giving-a-fuck or pretending to not give a fuck.
It's more like having an experience and learning from it. Sounds kinda dumb and blunt, but that's life in my opinion. Sex is just a part of it.

My life has been an endless string of meaningful sex and I wouldn't have it any other way.

I don't know whether sex is automatically meaningless if it's anonymous. I mean, there's often tenderness and brief but genuine sexual intimacy, even if you never see the person again and you've only experienced one facet of their sexuality for five minutes.

While some people who've been in long-term relationships know that sex can be perfunctory, scheduled, or otherwise far from emotionally intimate, even when you know the other person well. Especially when you're in the middle of breaking up.

Or at least that's how I see it.

I only have sex with my boyfriend I've been with for 6 years.
I'm on this site just because I love cock.

Can you have meaningful anonymous sex? Yes, to a point. Hooking up with a stranger can produce an incredible rush, and that thrill can have value, in and of itself. With proper retrospection it can provide illumination into one's biological essence, and an appreciation of the physical joys of life. But of course the level of meaning derived from anonymous sex pales in comparison the meaning which erupts from the joining of two souls through the joining of two bodies. I've had both, and overwhelmingly prefer the later; but have been able to appreciate the former when that is what has come my way at that time and place.

To the point others have made...if someone goes to the effort to have sex...it must have meaning. Sex, in spite of what you read about on here, isn't easy to arrange for most of us. Those who do put the energy into getting laid might like the pleasure as subgirrl said, might value the sexual exploration as NCBear said, or might seek the rush that at.your.cer talked about. Or...it might boost self esteem, generate physical intimacy, or be a way to pass a boring flight with someone you will never see again.

I've never been a fan of quickies with people I didn't know first, but I've had lots of friends who were highly sexually active (yes, real sluts), and I've enjoyed learning about their motivations and exploits. I'd say for most of them meaningless sex has been a preference for some of the reasons above. For a very small percentage its been an addiction.

Now, back to my meaningless masturbation...

You may be right, but there's a trick: everyone can consider meaningful something that is completely meaningless, or trivial, to most others.
On LPSG there are examples of users putting A LOT - an incredible lot - of effort just to lay a different girl every night.
It's not the sex anymore: they could easily have the same amount of sex without looking for a new woman every single day.
But, there's some psychological need to leave behind girls to find a new one. Just like in porn - there's no porn like the new one.

Is that meaningless? For the guy sporting around and investing all that effort, of course not.
    For many others, probably yes.

I often feel, sex is for yourself and love is for another.
    both have meaning.
