    WTF

What is wrong with this woman. Can she NOT be in a relationship for more than a week without jumping the broom with the next dick she meets?. This is pathetic. She must be a whore, to be jumping around the way she does. She really needs to take a break, before people start to notice.

    Hi,

Obviously, Twister she is not wasting away for lack of men willing to walk down the aisle with her. She may have some of the same issues as Elizabeth Taylor. Allegedly, her mother told her never sleep with a man you are not going to marry. Home training dies hard? No, but seriously, perhaps she will find a bond through similar levels of success and cultural familiarity with Mark Anthony. I hope this time is the one that sticks, but one never knows.

My first thought upon seeing that J. Lo had tied the knot yet again is that her career is careening toward irrelevance so fast that she has to keep getting married to stay in the headlines. Seriously ... would she ever be in the newspapers were it not for her many very public relationships?? I don't really follow showbiz, and I would probably not even have *heard* of J. Lo were it not for her much-discussed love life.

My second thought, as a married guy, is that the cheesy exploits of people like J. Lo and Britney Spears do far more to "cheapen" and "degrade" the institution of marriage than the desire of committed gay couples to cement their relationships by marrying. Not that these starlets have anything to do with my relationship with my wife, but it doesn't exactly strengthen the institution when these high-profile people treat marriage so cavalierly.

Descending from my soapbox now ... hunkering down for the response from the anti-gay marriage crowd ... ;)

    Steve26:

You are soooo right, man. So many celeb's "cheesy exploits" (to borrow your term) regarding marriage certainly have had their negative effects on the marriage institution. The anti-gay marriage crowd is unable to deny this, since it's just a fact of modern life. Too bad the public is so gullible and easily swayed, without a strong enough character and morality to chart their own course for their actions.

I'm thankful for the few who use their soap boxes, Steve. This shows that there are still some who have standards.

I give it about 6 months b4 People and the Enquirer start reporting about trouble and then breaking up again. J. Lo needs to see a relationship counselor there guys.

Javierdude22: I think I am even less repelled by Britney Spears as I am by Jennifer Lopez. Anything that even remotely mentions her I am steering way clear of. Her singing qualities equal noises I make in horrormovies, her acting qualities are matched only by pornstars.

Because of all the drama around her thing to the second power with Ben Affleck, I am seriously getting bowel problems whenever he features in a movie. Luckily the scripts he chooses could have done that by themselves.

People in need of attention like that get my skin crawling.

    Funny DMW,

But apparently it is very true.

    And another one:

"That MUST be jam, because J. Lo don't shake like that"

Oh, about gay marriage. I wrote a filk about it a couple months ago:

    Hazy, hazy
That is the far right's view
    Bush is crazy
About what he thinks gays will do
He thinks they will ruin marriage
    But do not be disparaged
    You'll look sweet
    In groups of three
With a bisexual built for two

Seriously though, here's the American Anthropological Association's response to Bush's assertions of the universality of only male/female marriages:

    http://www.aaanet.org/press/an/0405if-comm4.htm

It gets dicey in some cases; not all marriages are sexual, such as Nuer female husbands. And then there are marriages such as, well, my people where they might be of the same sex but different genders. However, heterosexual marriage is still the "default", for obvious Darwinian reasons. Or more accurately Dawkinsian reasons.

Actually, you'd be surprised about how few universals there are in kinship. About the only ones are the existance of marriage in some form and some variety of incest taboo.

How about She'll be the one to get a divorce; as it is, he gets all her assets.

    Not a bad article, Jon.

Basically. There's also the issue of when it looks like homosexuality but it ain't, such as among Melanesian semen cults. Or third genders. But basically the important thing is that Shrub is an idiot. I mean, let's face it: Every argument against homosexuality is religious in nature, and we already know they're screwing whether they get married or not.

rainsfletcher: I heard the rumor that she's pregnant???

And by the way, this also brings into question her true feelings for Affleck. He assumed she was in love with him, and she's married to some other dude a few months later? Makes it all look like a sham, huh.....

rainsfletcher: KinkGuy, you are implying he's gay? Hmm.....

If I were him, looking at J. Lo now, my reaction would be an enormous 'PHEW! THAT WAS CLOSE!"

Yeah ... like we'd get a fucking shot at him even if he were an ass pirate. Somehow I doubt it. I don't care what his sexual orientation is; I'd never get the opportunity to bend him over.
