Even after he goes out on a limb to redeem himself he does something to fuck it all up again. His sexuality was simply necessary for his relationship with Beecher. Their dependence on each other was the focus, not the sex. I don't have any qualms about playing gay characters even though I'm straight. Gay is just another way to be, and nothing's wrong with it. What I don't want to play is a boring character."
A healthy attitude in my opinion.
