When I was acting in the industry, I became friends with a Hispanic porn actor who was friends with Jack. I never met Jack myself but heard he was a nice guy through the industry grapevine. Lots of sad stories in porn though... I worked--and was friends--with a porn girl who did a lot of scenes with Sledge Hammer... He was the guy who got shot and killed by the LAPD. That always affected me...just a somewhat close connection. Guys (even "famous" porn guys) don't make much money. $500/scene is probably right on the money. I never got serious name recognition, and I was doing scenes for $200. Lots of women only get $500 now and have to do anal, etc. The money for women is in the stripping and--yes--escorting. The money for the guys is building up enough of a rep and connections to produce your own content. No 401K in porn. That's for sure.

You're missing the point. Crowdfunding is an excellent means of offsetting costs, be they medical or otherwise. In terms of porn, I think it's especially effective due to the relationships that people form with the actors and actresses in the industry. You seem to be hung up on the varying situations that landed the performers in the hospital instead of seeing that it just makes good economic sense to give an online call to arms a go.

I know that's what you said, and all I'm saying(Rather successfully mind you) is that if I had to choose between someone who cracked up on a motorcycle and a lady who got beat within an inch of her life by a crazed ex boyfriend, then she gets it no more no less. And what exactly should make one form of fundraising be less enobling over another?
Simply because I find spontanteous battery appalling over intentional mishap does NOT negate my altruism; It merely points out who I think getss more deference this ideal.

Again, you're completely missing the points I made, and you're veering into a different direction; specifically, one that's mainly about you and your feelings. I never said that Christie Mack was more deserving or not. I said that she's one of a number of pornstars who've either set up their own crowdsourcing campaigns or had them established for them due to unfortunate circumstance. For the record, I actually donated money to her last year, but that really isn't relevant to what I've (to quote you, "rather successfully, mind you") said twice now.

As for who gets to determine whose campaigns are more deserving, the best answer I can give to that is funders. The people who actually feel moved to either contribute or not. That's the best gauge, in my most humble of opinions.

I have not kept track of Porn or their stars in years, I just thought it was interesting that the Name Jack Napier is also the real name of the Joker from Batman

You are thinking of Alan Napier who played the character "Alfred" on the campy 1960's Batman TV show. He died in 1988. BTW.

Actually from what I read Sledge was tasered and as he had some type of medical condition he passed away. Wouldn't be surprised if someone doesn't take their asses to court on that one.

I also read somewhere that Jack is supposed to be a pretty decent guy as well as Mr Pete, from the looking out for the girls type.

ONCE AGAIN, you're still not attempting to facilitate my reasoning for this; It doesn't matter what the source of the funds, so long as they get them to ease off the medical expenses. And really what person genuinely solicit funds directly for themselves? No one. That's why with friends and family act as their anonymous advocates. No more no less.
And I'm done explaining myself to this.
'Nuff said.
Oh BTW, happy holidays;)

I made this point ("It doesn't matter what the source of the funds, so long as they get them to ease off the medical expenses.") at least two times before (in my initial and follow-up post). When I made it the first time, you interjected that you'd rather give money to Christie than to Jack, which is fine, just not relevant to anything I said.

As for who directly solicits funds for themselves, it happens all the time. Crowdsourcing has become a huge tool for filmmakers, musicians, people working in an array of media fields, etc. That's largely why Kickstarter and Indiegogo, to name a few, are so popular.

Was really sad to hear about what happened to Jack. Many years ago when Jack was an active member on this site he posted that he would call anyone who replied to his post, within a certain time frame, requesting to receive a phone call from him to just chat for a bit. I didn't notice the post until after the deadline to reply but decided to post a reply just to see if he'd make an exception. I was stunned to receive a call from this seemingly genuine and sincere man. I'd been a fan of his for years and was always struck by his boyish, playful onscreen attitude with the girls he was tearing up with his massive dick. He was so different than the typical big-dick porn actor. I was truly impressed by him taking the time to reach out to his fans, even his gay fans like myself, to make them feel appreciated and special by getting to actually talk with him. I will be making a donation and hoping for his full recovery.
