A nepotism baby
At least nothing like other nepotism babies that get a lot of relevant roles in shows and movies because their parents push their kid’s career asking for favors. Jack’s performance in the boys is solid enough to assume he got the role by his own merit

um, he's actually talented.

there's a lot of other big, talented celebs who have famous parents: Tracee Ellis Ross, Emma Roberts, Miley Cyrus, Lenny Kravitz, Zoe Kravitz, Melanie Griffith, Dakota Johnson, Billie Lourd, Carrie Fisher, Riley Keough, Scott Eastwood, John David Washington, Bill and Alexander Skarsgård, Drew Barrymore, Jennifer Aniston, Colin Hanks, Ben Stiller, Jamie Lee Curtis, Mariska Hargitay, Rashida Jones, Laura Dern, Angelia Jolie, Kate Hudson, Bryce Dallas Howard, Kiefer Sutherland, Maya Rudolph, Stella McCartney, Lily Collins, Charlie Sheen and Emilio Estevez, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Sofia Coppola, Jason Schwartzman, Rob Reiner, Jane Fonda, Liza Minelli, Natasha Richardson, Jason Ritter, Dan Levy, Rumer Willis, Gwyneth Paltrow, Josh Brolin, Chris Pine, Whitney Houston, and so many more.

Talent doesn't dictate 'nepotism baby'. Nepotism dictates nepotism. And while 'nepotism babies' are a problem in Hollywood, there's nothing wrong with celebrating some of the good ones. And Jack is certainly one of them.

The fact that he goofs off with fans and does things like Red Letter Media shows that he's more than just someone taking advantage of their royalty just for money and fame.

Exactly. Yes, talented, but did benefit from having a famous father in the industry. He has had access to many connections that other up and coming actors in his age group will never have and would kill for the opportunity.

Nepotism will always be a problem in every industry, not just Hollywood though. But he is a solid actor and was a great casting choice.

Is nepotism really a problem if the person benefiting from it is extremely talented and likely would have excelled even without the connection?

You can't really say they likely would have excelled. There are plenty of talented people who aren't successful
