I have no idea if they get paid something else other than that (either royalties or a base fee other than the "tasks"), but I never heard of royalties being paid, so I'm not really sure.

Japan however does have comparatively low wages for a developed country. The minimum wage in Tokyo right now is 1,072yen/h. On a regular 40h/w schedule, that would give you 171,520 yen a month.

I can see how those 120,000 yen for a couple hours of work would feel like a lot for students, who usually do part time jobs as clerks or waiters getting paid 1,000 - 1,300 yen/h. (and most of these models are students, anyway)
However, if we are talking about making a living from it, I do think it is very hard. I mean, if you get three 100,000 scenes a month you get to 3.6 million yen in a year. That's bellow the average income for a white-collar worker who attended collage, so it really doesn't pay off, I think.

People who do make a living from that (like Hiroya) not only need to do an insane amount of shootings, but are also doing a lot of modeling, working as gogo boys in clubs and etc. (Or work as escorts, of course)

Wow I just manage to read this and thanks for the information re the minimum wage in Japan. Most of us well me, wrongly assume that the models get paid a lot but they dont really as it companies that make packet. Hence why in USA et al so many of these guys are setting up on their own with Only Fans to make more money as quickly as they can.

Ah that's interesting mate, as I tend to avoid the straight stuff as I prefer the guys to be with each other. I can access loads of straight scenes if needed but dont.
