What a toxic mentality your posts reveal. JK Rowling is an adult. Stupid, stupid post. Revelatory of all the toxic cancel culture nonsense. Totally opposed to the spirit of Voltaire. Modern day 'liberals' prefer to crush all debate, rather than engaging with it. A lack of basic intelligence must be part of the root of this.

A statement signed by 150 people incl. Bill T. Jones, Wynton Marsalis, Jennifer Finney Boylan, Noam Chomsky, J.K. Rowling, Margaret Atwood, and Salman Rushdie expresses concern over the illiberal trend intensified by our national reckoning.

Cancel culture is so toxic that its victims have to speak out. Unless the protest itself is 'cancelled'

To reply to you would require discussing the issue for which Miss Rowling is in the news.
Engaging on this topic will require a terms of service violation:

It's not about toxic mentality or cancel culture. It's about the limits of what a sexually oriented, U.S.-based website can discuss. You can fight that battle, but I wouldn't expect to win it, short of a landmark Supreme Court decision.

I have read HP 14 times. I love that world. I am a huge fan of the books. I actually listened to some HP erotica today! I choose not to think about JK Rowling after all the incendiary things she has said lately. Just like Wagner was an awful human being but a great opera composer, I appreciate their art without being fans of the persons behind the artwork.

I'm not sure Wagner was an awful human being? He was virulently anti-Semitic and his music was later appropriated by Hitler... but you'll find that many people from the C.19th were virulently anti-Semitic. People still go to see Wagner performed.

It's not to excuse his beliefs, just to put them in context.

As for JK Rowling, are we really conflating anti-Semitism and her own words about trans issues? Maybe we can...

But, as Obama pointed out, there is more to being woke than telling other people that they're wrong all the time.

I very much rather see JK shamed than me, thanks. For that is exactly what her words are doing at this point.

Sure - I'm not defending her - my point is, kinda, a wider one about the group psychology of the internet; flashes of rage, intolerance and shaming.

It's new - or maybe it harks back to a simpler time before the rule of the mob gave way to regulated justice in the C.19th - I can't decide - but t'internet can blow itself up into a hurricane of fury, 0-enraged in under 10 seconds.

I was just wondering what people think of that trend towards a "new intolerance"?

It’s called Cancel Culture for a reason, it’s the new Prada handbag haha.

I have some elderly friends who are Trumpers. I overlook this and just don't discuss Trump with them. I still enjoy their friendship. I know some people on LPSG won't watch a porn star if they are Trumpers, but much of that is cultural and being a former Southerner, I can overlook it. I would still enjoy meeting JK Rowling and discussing the Potter Universe with her, but I don't care to hear any of her ignorant ravings about our dear trans people as arguing with her won't change her mind. Perhaps the stupidity of her trans stance will convince some others how wrong that conviction is.

I refuse to accept intolerance under any circumstances.

Do you give these elderly friends a lot of money?

People choosing not to support Trumper porn starts is just the free market at work. Same as people deciding not to buy Rolwing's new works or all the Harry Potter merchandise they see. She can live out her life but we don't have to give her money. She's only crying because she's hurting her pocketbook. "Cancel culture" assumes one was ever entitled to my money, she wasn't.

You people need to really read the further tweets down the page. I don't know....but I'd say Rowling would have a stack more credibility with her research and credibility than a few faceless posters jacking jaw on LPSG.
