In the Uk we just had a new batch of figures which started with the headline news that unemployment was down. Im still trying to work out what they are counting because they also stated the number of long term unemployed was up, the number claiming benefits was up, the number working part time was up and the number 'economically inactive' (probably those not looking for work) was up.

Who knows what the accurate numbers are. All we know is it's really fucking bad and government and private entities better do something about it before desperate people resort to desperate measures. We need to resurrect the WPA, for starters.

Well, there's no question Bush (the chimp) and Darth Cheney would have faced the exact same economic problems. My bet is on the current horse in the race to do something. It's not as if Obama "doesn't care."

I'm quite sure we've all seen enough of your stupid editorials.

Bush is a distant memory; Cheney can't even get an interview. Step up and address the issue at hand - which is that the worst president in U.S. history is also the biggest liar in world history and is the most inept, unqualified politician in any country in the last 800 years.

The people 'in the know' are ensuring that the next three years are simply political stalemate so that this fucking IDIOT can't inflict any more damage on this country.

Obama has not accomplished a single postive thing in over a year. Every single thing that he promised with his evil, lying, misrepresentation of a campaign has turned out to be:

A lie
A misrepresentation
A flipflop on his stance
A failure
A cover-up

He hasn't delivered on anything, and his own party is running away from him at light speed in order to have a sliver of a chance in the 2010 elections.

Barack Obama is unequivically the worst president in U.S. history and has cemented that legacy in less than 13 months.

President Obama has had More Legislation passed in his first year than any president except one, Jimmy Carter. I guess you haven't been paying attention. The Highlights:

Do you really want to be mentioning Jimmy Carter's Presidency with Obama in any like comparisons?

Inheriting a disaster of an economy for your election's first years certainly has no part in any of this. Let's not for how messed up Bush's entry for the Iraq war was. It's common knowledge that Bush is going down as the "worst president in history" there's even been a yahoo news report on it. Plus if nothing else Obama still has 3 years

yes he did
In his first year in office, President Obama did better even than legendary arm-twister Lyndon Johnson in winning congressional votes on issues where he took a position, a Congressional Quarterly study finds. The new CQ study gives Obama a higher mark than any other president since it began scoring presidential success rates in Congress more than five decades ago. And that was in a year where Obama tackled how to deal with Afghanistan, Iraq, an expanding terrorist threat, the economic crisis and battles over health care.

The statements made in the OP don't match what the department of labor said in their press release. The 31,000 was a revision of an estimated number, not an actual increase in claims.

Comparing the current numbers with the 4-week moving average, the yearly average, and unemployment numbers from January 2009, the rate of newly unemployed is down.

The OP has trouble with facts if they don't fit her paradigm.

Wrong. You are confused about what the The Dept. of Labor Press Release states. The 31,000 wasn't a revision from an estimated number and it was an actual increase in claims. The previous week's number just so happened to have been revised up in addition to increase in claims the next week.

Jobless Claims in U.S. Rose Last Week to 473,000 - Bloomberg

U.S. Jobless Claims Unexpectedly Jump Last Week - New York Times/ Reuters

Seems he has the trouble with facts. When you back up what someone else says...shouldn't you make sure they are correct first?

I was commenting on the Title of the Thread. Yes Job Loss continues to be a problem. It hit its peak during the last year of the Bush presidency and carried over to the beginning of the Obama Presidency. BUT the trend is going in the other direction as the rate of new joblessness decreases. Here's the graph for the umpteenth time:

Umm. No you weren't. He was wrong. You went with it.

Obama focused on ObamaCare when he should have focused on Jobs. Mistake. Obama stated unemployment wouldn't go over 8% if he passed the Stimulus. It's at 9.7 and projected to rise.

The Stimulus has wasted billions with few permanent jobs to show for it.

Not only is unemployment still bad, underemployment is a problem and salaries are decreasing when taxes and costs are going up.

Re-authorizing and/or extending bills is not considered an accomplishment.

How can Shrub be a distant memory, when we are painfully reminded every day that he left our country in shambles. As for Cheney, he sure got a "thunderous reception" at CPAC, didn't he?:

Dick Cheney Suprise Visit to CPAC‎ - Brought to you by your favorite propaganda source.

Video results for Cheney at CPAC - For those who can stand it.

Oh, and look, here's an interview with Johnathan Karl from last week, you lying sack of shit:

Exclusive Interview with Cheney - Again, if anyone can stand to watch.

Wow, you're still trying to sell this shit? The stench is overwhelming! I think we all know who's the top contender for the worst President in U.S. history without even saying it, now don't we? At this point, I think you should put yourself on ignore, before somebody starts a campaign.

That's so far off the chart, even for you, that it's out of this universe and in another dimension entirely. You are "unequivocally" insane. Yes, that is the correct spelling, Starpooper.

Cheney shows up at CPAC every year, what's the freakin' surprise?

Oh and I've come to realize, GWB was not the worst president in history - it was Cheney!
