Risk is more of a problem if you're circumcised, obviously. The mucosal membrane isn't exposed on an uncircumcised penis with a sufficiently long foreskin (just enough to cover the glans). Sunlight isn't necessarily bad, but tanning beds can be because it's more intense light.

The add for the jock sock was very good, the sales guy was so hot, i was though disappointed that he didnt demonstrate for the customer how to wear it, that would have made it alot better, lol

Yeah, I agree, tillyrox, and have to tell you that when, during the sales pitch, he looked down and told the prospect ". . . take a look at this . . ." he was about to show the results of wearing a jock sock for tanning. But, alas, he picked up a sock to demonstrate on his fist and arm. It leaves us to wonder if they have a dressing room for try-ons, though, for those who need to learn how their 'stuff' fits.
